| Are you looking to try and make $$$, or basically work in trade for a free vacation and maybe cover your expenses? With the way things are right now, free room and board and tips will probably be your main income at a resort that isn't some huge operation. If you've never done this, then you will likely be in for a surprise as to how much work is involved and how little time you will get to take off and go fishing when ever you want. You really need to be in it for the location and the lifestyle and not be concerned with $$$, and having the lifestyle is something that takes time to earn. Your first summer as low man on the totem pole you won't reap a lot of the benefits it can offer. That being said it is an experience you won't ever forget, and it may be life changing. Most operations won't need you until May, so you may have to do something else until then. Give some of the resorts on the U.S. side of the Northwest Angle of Lake of the Woods a call. There are several that look for guys like you every summer, just as long as your demands aren't too high. Oh, and there is some very fine muskie fishing near by. Flag Island, Walsh's Bay Store, Sportsman's, and Angle Inlet to name a few. Good luck. |
