quick thing....what do you think of when fishing a cold fall day? deeper water with slower bigger moving baits right? today we were fishing in less than 6 feet of water with faster moving smaller baits (shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, and bucktails) and we did well. it was so strange for me fishing that shallow this time of year. the bigger fish we caught was out of 4.5ft of water! i like doing things alittle differently but this was just strange, but it payed off for sure....

Remember, after turnover, the fish will use the whole water column ( because dissolved oxygen equilizes throughout the water column). You will also find that water temperatures are very similar at all depths. Simply stated that means, shallow, deep and everywhere in-between you will find baitfish and predators ( weather conditions apply). The secret is to look for baitfish and warm water, not always in that order, conditions will dictate where and how to fish. On warm fall days, a south wind and mild temps, don't be suprised to see the fish shallow. Again the key to finding "them" is to follow the "food source", find that, and you will catch all species of fish.
