| So we can't afford Canada this year and Mille Lacs ended up being our 'annual' fishing trip. We leave on Fri. I've spent a fair amount of time ice fishing ML, and even a few open water trips for walters, but never for ski's. Can anyone offer up some advice as far as how to go about this lake with a fair shot at boating a ski? All I've ever heard is use red, but beyond that ML is just a big soup bowl to me. Feel free to PM if you don't want to post anything. I know the lake can be tough in June so I'm thankful for any bones you can throw! |

Location: NYC (and many weeks in MN during summer) | fish the bays shallow on the south side of the lake. I think that's your best shot early season, especially with the late start. Fish early, sun up and late, sun down. Good luck.

Location: Brainerd, Minnesota | I'd fish the south end bays. Vineland, Cove, Wahkon, Isle, Macs Twin Bays, and Sunset. All are spawning areas and offer the warmest water. I'd fish afternoons and evenings when the water temps are at their peak. Fish are definitely lingering there because of the late spring and cool water temps. We've been moving fish in several of the above bays.
Good luck,
