So the pit master says that hosting a barbecue would be difficult due to a lack of funding essentially. I say we try to fund it. So how much are you willing to spend to attend a barbecue that was supposedly wonderful last year(I don't know I did not attend last year) with many of the wonderful people on this board? How many people do you think you could bring or what could we assume the revenue you may generate if said barbecue could take place. I assume that at $15-$20 a person we may possibly generate enough revenue to cover the costs. That being said how much can you bring to the table. I know that I could bring at least 4 people (foreign to this board) that would be happy to talk to a bunch of fellow musky fishermen. They would all be willing to pay 20 bucks for this social atmosphere and wonderful food. That makes five of us or 100 bucks.

I'm not going to organize a BBQ this year for a number of reasons. They're my reasons, and I am not going to list them here, other than to say it's not only about money. So unless you have or have access to; a 9,000 pound smoker and trailer rig that can smoke a couple hundred pounds of meat, someone with the skill to operate it for you, John Laimon's permission to use his location, a friend in the restaurant business to sell you pork, chicken, and other necessary products at cost, and someone willing to put about forty hours of time into organizing everything, I'm going to guess you might have a little trouble pulling this off.

If you do have or can line up these things, go for it, good luck, and I'll be glad to come and eat and make a donation.

Not this year, sorry.

Hopeful and ghiterman,
Just bring your butt up here for our N WI opener or as soon after as you can and I'll BBQ. I got LOTS of stuff to grill this year, and you should spend a day or two at the Hideout just for drill anyhow. And I bet I'll even be welcome at the BBQ...
