| Going fishng in a river in Ontario for pike in mid May. Deepest part of river is 29 feet and there is a few islands in the middle, rapids at one end, slight weed growth now so descent at that time, water is light chocolate. Wondering what you guys/gals recommend I use, fast/slow, size??? and especially where?

| Musk, Saw a recent In-Fisherman where they were after very-early-season pike. They were doing great using (1/2oz?) bass jigs and pork, fishing real slowly, lifting them up off the bottom and letting them settle down and sit. They said there was zero action with spoons or twitching stickbaits; you wouldn't have thought the fish were even there until you tossed out a jig. They were fishing the shallower/warmer waters of bays because that's where the pike were hanging out. You might consider a jig with an attached rattle due to the limited water clarity. | Big spinnerbaits on the flats and along the edges work really well, just slowrolling them. The old stand by, a spoon, can aslo be very effective worked as a 'jump lure', not straight retrieve.
Of course, a creature shines that time of the year also![::)] |
