The motor is a 115Hp yamaha 4 stroke (2005). The water pump was replaced once already because of a "squelling" noise. Since then the water pump has began making the squelling noise again. The water pump bearing has been replaced too. The noise seems to happen when trolling, or after a long wide open run. Does anyone know what is happening here?

Mine does the same thing. Typically, just changing the paddle (an annual event) does the trick... but this season mine started squeeling by July... and it usually lasts a full season. The pump works fine... but the squeeling sure gets obnoxious after awhile. If you find a better fix... let me know.

I changed mine last year and haven't heard any squealing before or after. Also didn't see any bearing while I was in there. the pump was like every other one I ever did, just a rubber impeller that slips over the driveshaft.

I do know of a plastic bushing below the powerhead that causes some squealing. You can drop your lower unit and grease the upper part of the driveshaft to make it go away.
