| The last time I had the boat out, Sylvan w/150 Evinrude, I was reading unusually high voltage from the meter up to 17.5v. Other than a bad gauge or possibly a bad battery what else could it be. The battery was new mid season last year.

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | If your gauge is correct then I'd say you have a bad voltage regulator. Should be a couple hundred dollars to replace at the dealer. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Plunker- Unlikely that it's a bad gauge. Most likely the voltage regulator. Get it checked by someone who has DVM (Digital Voltage Meter). If it's really that high you risk "cooking your battery" and potential damage to your electronic equipment/sonar, etc. Put the old garden hose on it and verify it's either the gauge or the regulator!
