My 88 Maurader is starting to show its age, I decided to upgrade my trolling motor this year and i noticed the wood mount on the bow needs to be replaced before i do so, is there any way to do this with out sacraficing the carpet or does it need to be replaced, also is there any way to brighten up the finish on my hull and paint any product recomendations would be very helpful. Thanks alot

The mount should have a screw through it holding it to the deck just to secure it before bolting through. Get the mount off the deck and strip off the carpeting from the bottom. Buid a new mount, reinstall the carpet, and make sure you seal all holes with silicone sealant when you reinstall the motor.

Polishing compound and a wheel will work well on the gelcoat. Move the wheel in easy slow back and forth motions applying polishing compound when it gets dry. Buff the boat, and use a high quality sealer wax.
