| If I started 100 yds from my target I would be spending an inordinate amount of time in fishless water, I rarely even start 1 1/2 casts out. And the windier it is the closer I will work. I am not opposed to coming up on the lee side of a point and chucking a few into the wind, particularly if I have a pretty good idea of where the location is.
For problem fish, or areas that are hit heavily and tend to hold educated fish, I will start further out, shut off trolling motors AND depthfinders and drift in on them.
One thing that seems notable to me is that in windy conditions, either into or across an area, have found multiple fish in spots that normally only hold one or scattered fish, sometimes have found groups in the wind and they may all be in pretty close proximity.
Always in some kind of squeeze postion. |
