I've seen the lube nuts in the catalogs...they don't look like they would have enough pressure to get much up the cable. Anyone have any experince with these?

I've thought about drilling holes in the cable nuts by the motor and adding grease zerks so I can pump grease into it.

Ya, I know my old boat with a 200Hp should have hydralic steering but when I repowered, I couldn't swing the extra $1000 but I did upgrade to the anti feed back helm.

I believe you will need to replace that cable. We had one fail many years ago and could only make left turns for a 1/2 a week LOL.

The cables are only a couple of years old....they are not bad....I just want to keep them lubed so they don't go bad.

Luke your right though....when a strand or 2 break, the steering gets tight and it's time to replace cables.

If anyone is replacing cables the best way is to remove the old cable and get a number off them and measure the length. The best place to get them is from Bass Pro. The guy I spoke with teleconferenced a Teledyne technician and we got the right one the first time. Oh ya, make sure you get the anti feed back helm, it is worth the extra buck.
