I watched a video on how to modify a rubber lure I use. It recommended to use some multi-strand leader wire or single strand. I see on Thornes some AFW 49 strand 90# wire and some AFW single strand stainless steel wire in several different wire thicknesses. Are these the correct types I would use? The mod is just moving the two treble hooks from hanging below the lure to placement on top, with the wire being used to attach the 2nd back hook on top of the rubber bait, embedding one the treble hooks toward the back of the bait and connecting that hook by this wire to the front line tie of the bait.
I am not sure what type of tool I would use to wrap this wire into the hook eye and the lure eye? Would the single strand work with a regular needle nose, what would the multi-strand need, or some specialty tool needed? What weight of single strand should I use if that is the way I go? The length of the wire on the lure connecting these two things would be only about 3" when done.
As you can see, I have never done this type of thing before.

Not sure exactly what you’re going for but maybe this might help I would get the afw wire in titanium I believe you can tie a knot in it or you can buy sleeves to crimp on. Run you wire down the plastic with a big needle to where you want the treble the tie or crimp a sleeve on. Can probably just run it like that or tie a knot in lure then run out.

To add if looking for thick stainless steel wire check out eBay as wire for spinners.

I am just switching a Lake XL Toad's hooks from hanging below the lure to on top of the lure to make more weedless in weedy areas. The video just shows the wire being run from the front line tie to the back treble that is embedded in the rear of the frog . The two wire connections are just shown to be twisted a few times, so I did not know what kind of wire to use and if you just used a needle nose to twist the wire to make secure. The video does not specify what kind of wire, and how one would twist the ends to make secure. Thanks for the info!
