I have a mid- eighties Merc 18hp xd in like new condition. The motor currently is a pull start. Has anyone converted your portable outboard with a pull start over to an electric start, and roughly what would the cost be, to see if it was worth it. I believe I read an article where if the motor had electric start as an option, the conversion would be possible. Thanks. Kdawg

Hiya,

Model and serial number? I will do some digging to see what I can find out. My gut says it would be possible and down here in the twin cities, twin city outboard would most likely have the parts available.

Could also check with Tim's Outboard in Hackensack. He may have used parts to make the conversion.

New kit I think is part #90983A5 but need motor serial to make sure.
