| I'm planning a trip to LOTW next year - june 20 to 27th on a houseboat in Sabaskong Bay. I know the area pretty well but im thinking about mixing things up and head up to Whitefish Bay one full day. Is it worth the effort to portage up to Whitefish bay to go muskie fishing? I know its a really clear lake compared to sab, stoney, stevens bay, any advice on where to fish muskies around Whitefish bay? Also, i know there are a lot of lake trout up there and i know nothing about catching lake trout, if anyone has any advice or hot spots on where to catch lake trout, i would highly appreciate it.
Thanks. |

Location: Brighton CO. | We went to Lake Of The Woods in September 1993 and we stayed at Red Wing Lodge and one day we all portaged to Whitefish Bay via the Turtle Portage (there was some type of wheel thing we used to portage) and there was a size limit on how big of boat you could cross in. The largest fish from our group was caught off a island on Whitefish 47". I would have liked to spend more time there. Yes very clear water. I would go there. |

Location: deephaven mn | been to whitefish a few times. there are some giants there. if i looks good fish it just like all of lake of the woods. find the cabbage too.
shallow reefs can be seen along ways away they reflect back in sunlight. lake trout fishing is better the farther north you go as it is deeper water |
