In the last few weeks in my part of the country we've had two paddleboarders and a person in a Kayak have lost there life because of not wearing a life jacket. As the water cools wear your device. Your the big winner if end up in the water with your jacket on.
And as the water cools one of your layers should be pure wool.

In the Northwoods of WI we lost two adults in the last couple years who were in little paddle boats. One guy thought that the perfect thing to go to a bar in. Neither had life jackets on. We also had a teenager who fell in, after dark from a paddle board near my home. Thankfully, a resident heard his screams for help and got to him with his boat. It was close.

I look at life jackets in boats like I do seat belts in cars: by the time you think you need one it's prolly too late to put it on. m
