I just swing into a local tackle shop to see what they had, and they had tons of these Beaver Baits. Looked interesting, but how to you fish them? Are they more open water or through weed beds with a straight retrieve and a pause now and again?

Yes to all. Do a search on you tube. Versatile.

These have been my best producing bait for past couple years. I fish them just as a would a bulldawg.
