Asked this question on the muskie nuts facebook group couple months ago, didn't get many responses on pounders, for other lures got pretty good reviews of the ProRex. I'm left handed, so I can't get a Shimano Tranx 500. But I'd like to get around 43 inches per crank for ripping rubbers... Just wondering how the ProRex 400 has been holding up...? I know JQ from Fins & Grins been using this on Lake St. Clair. I'm kind of saving up money for a Hellcat or another 03-04 Terminator, but tempted to finally start ripping rubber, amongst other big rubber this fall. Probably pair it up with a Ti XXH 9' But also looking to maybe buy 1 or 2 more of them, a seperate 9' 6" rod for bucktails, also seperate rod for medium action 8' 6" size rods for glide baits. Been putsing around with other lures for too long with just spinning, but at the time, that's what I could afford, cheap spinning combo. I'm a true believer in reaction style baits, especially after learned how effective jerkbaits have been like megabass for smallmouth and even xrap sxr10 glass ghost for snook out on the surf. I watched as got like 17 snook on the surf, everyone around me got 1 or 2 snook just using live bait and other artificial lures. https://youtu.be/6ah2Qop5YdQ Probably no other lure that will catch as many fish as a jerkbait, glide bait or ripping bulldawgs. The ProRex probably isn't as sealed off as the Tranx is for saltwater fishing, as I might be getting into Tarpon fishing too. Regardless, I'd probably just buy combo reserved for saltwater fishing after witnessing first hand how harsh saltwater is on reels down in Naples/Marco Island Area. Still weary about launching my underwater drone in saltwater due to corrosion, one dude I know Stan had like 200-300 dives over in Hawaii with his Gladius Mini, but with time, lot of wires and inside electronics just started corroding despite using silicone spray after almost every dive. I'm also might consider a little more expensive rod, considering I've read few others on here say something like the Big Dawg is more than 3oz lighter than the TI rod https://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=88... I know lighter you can make your setup, less fatigued you'll get, but having a good rod that loads the pounders is a big factor too. Still might just considering getting Tranx 400...

Posts: 230 | Tranx 500 HG...cast with your left hand on the reel and crank with right hand, or Calcutta Conquest with 6.2/1 ratio. Put a longer jigging both.

Posts: 357 Location: Western U.P. | The new Daiwa Lexa TW's & Prorex are very well built, and should be able to take a lot of punishment. There is only this season to tell for the Prorex, and a few months for the Lexa TW's. The Prorex is an offshoot of the Lexa TW line (designed for saltwater use), with just a few differences. I've been using a Lexa TW400 for a little over a month for up to Mag Dawgs, and a few times for Pounders. The reel worked fine... no drama, nothing squirrely, and a really solid feel to them. I just picked up a TW300 to try (basically the same reel only narrower), and will be replacing some RT Beasts with a couple more 400's. I'm glad Diawa finally stepped up their game in this reel segment.
