I know I can fish the river here, was out for a few hours this morning trolling with no luck, but where can I still put in up north? I talked to Zeromski's at Hancock and it's froze. I am heading up Thursday with the warm weather.

Hey Derek,

As of last Sunday, the north/northeast half of Big Arb was open. A few ice cubes near the north launch, but I got through it alright (LUND 1800 PRO-V) South half was locked up, but with this warmth it is possible that it is open? Plum Lake was wide open, Minocqua was open, Trout, and I was told that North Twin was also open. I bet you might find more open water than you think. Good luck to you!

Hey Medic,

Local waters here on the MI/WI border are mostly all open. Only the smallest lakes are frozen. The rest of this week it will be unusually warm, like 45-50* and sunny on thursday and friday. Local water temps are in the high 30's, and slowly rising again. For example, earlier this week, water temp on one favorite smaller local lake was 36/37 and I was breaking newly-formed skim ice (no wind) as I trolled back to the landing after dark. I went back yesterday afternoon and the temps were 38* all over the lake. No skim ice after dark, though the wind was blowing at about 10mph.

So, lakes are open, but the warming may have turned the lake fish off, so maybe head to a river or flowage?

Hope that helps,

Ranger
