I would go with alright. Not the smoothest reel going by any stretch, but they do seem to last. I've had one for 3 years, and it still works like new. But I don't use it that often either.

Bought mine in '88 and it still works. Or are you talking about the 100 musky reel? The Musky reel is supposed to pretty good, little more slop in the handle then a 6500 I think, but solid gears.
