Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Looking at using this material for some sucker rigs. What is the difference between the two types of lines. Is it just visibility issues or is the flouro harder? |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Fluro is harder but it cost 6 times more ( 80# ). I use hard mono and change them as soon as I see a nick and save $$. I make 4' hard mono leaders with size 6 crosslock snaps and swivels and I can hold it in the middle and the snap and swivel will be over 12 inches away so it's pretty hard stuff. |

Location: oswego, il | Norm, I make my own flourocarbon sucker rigs. They work great. I do not make up a whole rig, i have several lead lengths made up to assemble a rig to fit the sucker. I usually use two hooks, 1/0 or 2/0. I put one in front of the top dorsal and one underneath in front of the rear underside fins. I find especially with smaller suckers under 16" you have to have the hook on the bottom or they won't ride upright. I put the two leads on the snap of my 3ft trolling leader, which is flouorcarbon too and attach that to the sucker as a rubber band rig in the nose. I use crimps for my leads but knots will do fine, just add a drop of superglue to it for insurance. |
