| New excuse: “I lost the friggen fish because I had to take the friggen boat out of friggen gear to prevent crashing into all the friggen boats”
Lesson: even if you set the friggen hook twice, leave the friggen boat in friggen gear.
I lost what would have been my personal best musky the other day.
Jointed TripleD’s troll great!

Location: Holly, MI | I was out today with a virgin that didn't even know how to drive a boat let alone musky fish. We had a reel start screeming and I was shouting to put the boat in neutral as I grabbed the rod from the rodholder. Set the hook hard and tried to slow the fish down. Fish swimming hard one direction and my boat going 5 mph in the other direction. I felt some awesome head shakes then..Pow, my 65 lb powerpro gave out and the Hog of my life snuck off with my lure and leader. That lure was some major ugly brown (can't seem to find another one like it)drifter Musky Stalker. All chewed up and full of teeth marks. I wasn't smart enough to photograph it so I could have Dr. Durst paint me up a couple more. The same lure put one nice musky in the boat each time on the last two trips on the water also. Now..snif..its gone. |
