For those who want a cheap and easy way to mount Down-east rod holders onto a Lund boat with 90 degrees Sport Trak, here's what I've done: I turned the bracket upside down and cut a 4" lenght of 3/16"x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" of aluminum angle, that I placed against the exterior face of the bracket and on top of the gunnel.

The angle serve 2 purposes: it fill the voids behing the bracket to give the rod holder a firm base to clamp, and, resting aginst the gunnel, it prevent the bracket to move outward. You can hang yourself, literally, onto the rod holder and it won't flex, at all.
