Location: oswego, il | On the smaller ones the original thin tail was perfect. Unfortunately it is no longer made. Somebody should make it!! With a belly weight and the tail + rear hook tuned just right you can really get some nice wiggle and movement. A close second on the grub is the 8" kalins mogambo which is very close in shape but much softer. The bigger stock tail has a nice thump from the tail but takes the erratic out of the bait.
The bigger ones, change your rips from right to left and repeat, they respond well to that. |

Location: North St. Paul, MN | I have an H2O original small one and a Phantom small one. I added the Phantom paddle tail from The Musky Shop and have used it more like a bucktail. My thinking was, I can burn it like a bucktail, but it's something different than a cowgirl/showgirl those metro fish haven't seen. Tried it sparingly last year with zero fish, BUT I was able to burn it without blowing out and the the bubble/gurgle it made was unusual. I like the versatility, in that I can burn it, slow roll it, rip it like a dawg, etc....
I'm thinking...burn, pause, flutter, burn, pause, flutter, repeat for 2016.
I realize this isn't revolutionary...I just thought, it might be different enough. |
