| Whats a good reel for getting the big blades really moving without killing myself doing it? Is there anything out there under $200? I saw the Trinadad in action on one of the muskie shows but its alittle too pricey for me!

| The Diawa Saltist is in your price range and has served me well. It is 47" per turn of the handle, it's fast. Comes in a levelwind model now, haven't used it though.

| 7000iCS is a good reel for big blades at slower speeds but imo it is not nearly the reel to really BURN them...you will find the bigger saltwater reels like the Trinidad and Saltist will pull them faster and with more ease than a reel like the 7000.
try one and you'll see. |

During the chat here on MuskieFirst last night Mark Rogers from Okuma said they will have a new reel at the ICAST show in July that will fit this market, it will not have a level wind. I'm pretty sure he said it would be available by October to the consumer - the info is probably in the chat. |

| The levelwind is the thing that goes back and forth in front of the spool. For example, Abu 7000 has it, Trinidad doesn't. |

Location: WI | If your looking to burn, don't get the abu 7000. I made that mistake last year. It's great at night when you just want to roll them but that thing killed me last year on Vermilion trying to cover water fast. I'm personally going w/ the narrow saltist 30 this year. I tried if for an evening last year and it was great. You can palm it easily(and I don't have overly large hands) and you can't beat 47" per crank. No levelwind, but it really wasn't a big deal. Took 2 casts to get used to that. |

Its the little thing on top of your reel that you have to put your line through that moves back and forth when you turn the reel handle. It makes the line go on smooth and level!

| Thanks for all the help fellows! I'm gonna go with the 6:4.1 levelwind Saltist with a 9ft. custom rod by Ryan at Rylures! I think it'll be a decent set-up for the big blades and such!

| How long is that Saltist going to last? That's my only concern. It looks like a good fast reel. BUt durability is always a concern for me. |

That's what I ran last year...swapped the reel out for night fishing to a standard reel b/c the Saltist is a big butt reel and not very light. It is a tool for burning, Is it big? yup. heavy? yup. Fast? you betcha'. |

| Will it hold up to burning double tens all summer? Or a week up in Cananda burning small bucktails continousely? I'm just afraid it won't hold up. If I get some possitive feed back I might own one here really soon. |

| The Best Burning Blades reel with price not being an option is the Trinidad 16n. If price is an option and under 200.00 like people have stated before go with the saltist. The 7000 is a standard retrieve to a slow rolling retrieve reel it is NOT a reel for burning blades all day. |

| I suppose you can burn blades on a 7000 but it is MUCH easier and requires less effort to do it on a reel like the Trinidad...imo you will simply wear yourself out if you use a 7000 and try to hit the speeds a trinidad can reel a d10 all day....I have both, and it is night and day.

I used one last year for big blades. Good reel. Just as fast as the Trinidad and a little more affordable. |
