This could be the heaviest fish to come out this body of water ever.the lake record as we know,is around 33lbs??? This fish measured 43inches but i did not get a girth so i could return it to water asap.i have never seen or heard of a fatter fish from Missouri waters.I would like to thank Matt (aka muskydeceiver) for being there.I was in question since this body of water was about 5ft above normal due to the flooding, but it was the only lake fishable since the rest were 15-20ft above normal. This was my first time on the water this year and 15minutes into it. Pictures to come soon. (this fish hit 30 minutes after moon set.)

p.s. can somebody give a good estimate at what the girth is?? My thigh is 25inches around and i know this fish is very close to this,if not more.

Nice job! That fish is a true GIRTHRA. The Missouri DNR (or equivalent) netted a 44" that went something like 34-35 pounds last year, I believe. It was in one the 2007 MI issues. Kevin Richards was holding it if I remember correctly. Missouri, I can give you his email if you like.

Very nice fish Fred. We released a fat 42" a few years ago out there but your fish just has a bigger body structure all the way around. Very impressive.

Might have to start bringing my rods back with me when I visit home!

Did you catch it on one of the lures you left in Millwaukee? Nice fish to start out the year.

That was a THICK fish. Wish I knew enough about these fish to make a guess at her girth. She put up a nice fight and swam away after a little rest. Congrats on a great fish Fred!!!!

sweet fish. very nice!

a very fat 43" can weigh just as much as a fat 48". There was a 45" fish caught on the Fox Chain that weighed 36 pounds on a dead on, acurate scale.

Great catch and picture. Makes me want a smaller outboard.

Two years ago on Pomme de Terre my brother-in-law caught a really fat 40 inch muskie. Some of the smaller muskies seem to have more girth too. Makes me wonder if these fatter muskies are from Kentucky or Iowa stockings. I lean toward Kentucky. Some of the fish have been tagged or marked. I'll have to remember to list off the where the tags and markings are located so I can determine where the fish came from.

If Pomme de Terre wasn't 12 to 14 feet high, I'd be there tomorrow afternoon. That's what I had planned until the flooding came last week.

Thanks for sharing your picture.

Like everyone else says,It was caught on "Lake X" and on a secret bait. But the bait of choice Friday was the new Krusher that landed her. Thanks for the reply's everyone......Fred.

And i will get a girth next time a fat fish like this is sitting in the net resting up to swim away.

Thanks Bob!! LOL!! I went and checked out Pomme to see what was under water.Campgrounds, docks broke off, roads near the lake covered and parts of docks floating around. The gate is wide open, but can only handle so much. They are saying about two weeks to bring to normal, but only if the weather permits. All tournaments have been cancelled for now.

My wife caught a extremely fat 44 that was in the same class as your fish. I am guessing girth right around 22" My guess on weight is 26lbs. Very nice fish by the way. Congrats.

would take quite the porker of a 43 to hit 30 lbs...could happen but i'd say that fish is 24-26 on a scale
Nice Missou fish!

That is a great fatty for 43"!!! I couldn't help but notice how big it's tail looks in that picture from tip to tip!!! Camera angle? I honestly think it's more like 20-25#'s but impossible to really know with no girth reading. On youtube there was a video of ILDNR nettings of musky from Shabbona Lake, IL and they netted I think a 40 incher that weighed close to 35# if I remember correct.
