Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I love the musky show season. I like to get to a few of them to talk with all my friends. Meet new ones at the shows, see new baits, new equipment, seminars, and the after show, the night life. Whats your draw to the shows?

Posts: 5874 | Mikes Extreme - 2/12/2008 9:54 AM I love the musky show season. I like to get to a few of them to talk with all my friends. Meet new ones at the shows, see new baits, new equipment, seminars, and the after show, the night life. Whats your draw to the shows? But the buck is worth more than those friendships! hehehe Dimes falling from heaven add up quickly, huh? Hey, If I can't give you the business at the show, I sure as heck can do it here! Putz! How's the shoulder? I spent most of Saturday just talking with people. I don't think I looked at more than 5 baits all day. The same thing at the swap. Just had a good time. That's why I go, more than the baits and speakers. Edited by Shep 2/12/2008 11:34 AM

Posts: 185 Location: Pound, WI | I enjoy talking to the guy that actually made the bait I'm buying, or watching him make it in front of me like the Spankey Bait I bought. But talking muskies with everyone is a close second. Brian

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | These shows are the only time I get to see a whole bunch of my friends. All other times we are all on the water in different areas of the country. Seeing friends is number 1. Maybe doing a little commerce for Wild's Musky Guide Service is just behind.

Posts: 734 Location: Watertown, MN | I would say biggest thing is meeting friends and spending the day bs'ing. Drive all the way to Milwaukee to Keop, and he is a no show! hehe! Kind of figured you were out plowing. I think between Milwaukee and Chicago I bought 1 bait. Troyz

Posts: 880 Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | The seminars, friends, and display's...not in that order. The swap is also a good place to find some baits that you can add to the box at discounted prices. I really missed the Extreme One's collection this year. Mike alway's has some great baits and you can get them for a steal. Well I'll just have to fish with him this year and steal a couple.....Heh, heh. Just kidding Mike. Bruce

Posts: 376 Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | I'm with Norm, it's the one time all year when most of the Muskies guides are in one place together. I only do the Blaine show, but I sure would like to go to Milwaukee and Chicago some time. I just can't afford to do that many. I also get to spend the weekend with my son and grandkids. They help me out in the booth and they all really look forward to the show as much as I do. My grandkids were on the cover of Muskie magazine in January. That picture was taken at last years Blaine Expo. It's become a family outing over the last several years. My oldest grandson Owen has been doing the show with me since he was 2 or 3. He'll spend half the first day walking around saying hello to all the guys and many of them stop by just to see him. I have had a number of people come up to me and say they just can't believe all the questions he ask them about baits and tackle, the first thing they say is "How old is that kid"? "Ace"

Posts: 355 Location: Wausau, Wisconsin | Without a doubt, it's getting to see people. This sport is full of so many great individuals and while I would love to spend time in the boat with all of them, I love using the shows as a way to connect before the mayhem. Unfortunately, they end up costing me an arm and it's glad I didn't walk into the lure swap with more than $60. Hope to see some of you again in New London.

Posts: 929 Location: Rhinelander. | Use to be the seminars but now just the friendships and new products. Actually tired of the same faces doing the seminars. Its the same bunch year after year at all the shows. Not gone to one now in 3 years. I just about went to Rockford. A few speakers there I have not seen. Pfeiff

Posts: 8788 | Year 1: WOW, lures!! Lureslureslureslures, more lures, WOW! Year 2: Lures, Seminar speakers, lures, rods, lures, reels, lures Year 3 : Seminar speakers, friends, maybe some lures Year 4: Friends, chance to sell some lures at the swap meet Now it's really just about seeing all the people I've made friends with chasing these silly fish. It's about the only place you get everyone together all at once.

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | The shows are better every year. I go to them to: 1) first to see and talk to old friends; 2) to make new friends and hear their ideas, good or weird; 3) to see all the hot new "secret baits"; and 4) buy the secret baits that will make me into a muskie superstar........until I get onto the water only to turn humane again!

Posts: 3869 | Again..... I don't go. If I were, it would be to see old friends and make new. Would be cool to meet some of the folks on the site with whom I've connected but not yet met. I care nothing for the "latest and greatest" crappola. Time tells all regarding such.

Posts: 574 | I like buying baits from the people that actually made them! These guys dont make a ton selling baits so giving them a few bucks more that they would get selling to a retailer doesn't bother me at all. Let alone all the custom stuff you can't get when the shows are done. I like that Lee, "Lee Lures" will tune his baits in the little tank he has before I buy them....

Posts: 661 Location: Roscoe IL | Hanging with friends! Just getting out of the house for a few day's with no plan other than to see the displays, check out the new stuff & have a few beers. Love seeing Tony G anytime I get the chance, same with Sennett. I still spend a slew of cash at these things, but I love the new stuff & always do my shopping for fishing clothes while i'm there. The Milwaukee show is a total blast & to follow up with a swap meet & then the bar afterwards, is one hell of a good time. Once the bar closes the party heads up to the room until 4am or so, then kick out the chicks & get a few hours in before a monster breakfast to kick off another day on this great planet! The hotel manager sure was pissed at us this year! Anyone else get a visit from that dude? It was only 3:30am & she still had her panties on! Cabin fever is killing me!

Location: Illinois | After months of no musky fishing, it's pretty awesome to go and see Rollie & Helens, Thorne Bros, Pastikas, huge selection of baits. It's great talking with and meeting the industry's top guides. I enjoy catching at least one seminar a year. Definitely is cool seeing lots of friends. The lure swaps associated with the shows are the best. Show season is when all us junkies get our musky-fix, so to speak! And, my god- the custom colors! Just one look at Shack Attacks booth looks like a psychedelic experiment gone RIGHT! Talk about sensory over load! Picking up new videos and T-shirts is something I really enjoy every year as well.
