Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Darrel Mack and I fished the Hodag Muskie Tournament in Oneida County. Last that I had heard, there were at least 40 muskies caught among 250 contestants among 13 lakes. Our lake, Crescent Lake with 36 fishermen, was tough. We caught a 35"er. There was a 41" and a 47"er caught on our lake as well. The biggest and smallest were caught with less than 5 minutes remaining to fish on the first day Saturday as we finally got some cloud cover. As always it was a great time! There are only 362 days until 2006 Hodag!!!

Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | I did ok I took my Goon Castor (pink bumblebee) out of retirement. Very uncharacteristic of me to purposely choose a big bait to throw at these tigers. Anyway, my trolling motor battery was dying and I had about 25' of a small point to work to the end before packing it in. Threw the Castor into about 2.5' of water and gave it three nice lazy glides; all he!! broke loose on a short pause - looked like someone dropped a washing machine in the lake. After a nerve-wracking fight (which had me of course believeing that the fish was much much bigger than it actually was) and finally netting it by myself, my big tiger for the year was secure. Wasn't huge by any standards, but sure was fun, and quite satisfying. It was only my second glider muskie, so I was pretty excited. Sorry about the pic quality, I was racing the camera timer (front of boat), and getting the fish out of the net (back of boat). Now if I can ever find the big ones... Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Fished Big St. and a few Minoqua area lakes. Wish I could have had the success the last guys did. We raised maybe 3 or 4 fish all weekend and only boated 3 northerns. One was a nice fat one but was still frustrating to have the hit then see him roll on his side and be all spotted, I wanted the muskies but they didnt cooporate with us this weekend. Oh well, next weekend. "Support our Troops!" Mike

Posts: 4266 | I fished Friday, Saturday and Sunday around Phelps, and all I got to show for it was a good sunburn. Bright sun and no wind to speak of. Had one mid forty inch fish try to eat a Perka a split second after the first twitch started it gliding. Her back broke the water and she missed the lure clean. Followed it all the way back to the boat opening and closing her mouth whenever the lure changed direction. Sorno, way to go man!!!! Beautiful fish. I guess that I might have to make some pink perch Perkas Also spotted a boat at the motel that I was staying at and see "Team Twitcher" on the side. "The only twitcher that I know is the TR Twitcher." "That's me." "Nice to meet you, I'm Beaver". "Get out of here. Nice to finally meet you." Then he got stuck listening to me for an hour......... We BS'd and showed each other lures. It was waaaaaaaay cool getting to meet him. Congrats on the tourney victory. Beav Edited by Beaver 9/19/2005 12:52 PM

Posts: 2024 | Saturday was great even though we didn't catch anything. I had one follow fishing with a guy that had never seriously chased muskies, though he fishes Leech every year. Needless to say, he's been converted. Sunday was even better as my dad and I placed 2nd in an IMTT tourney: 36.5 and 35. Lost a solid 40"er that would have been the "go-ahead fish". Oh well, it was still fun.

It sucked trailer tire came off the rim pulling out of the drive way (lucky we got it reseated) high winds and trolling motor problems made fishing intersating then to top it off found out a buddy caught a 33" and a 48" at the same we were floating down the lake fixing the motor. Posts: 135 Location: Elgin, IL | Sorno. That is one big, beautiful Tiger. I am so jealous! I got to run my kids around from soccer games, team pictures, birthday parties, etc. this weekend. So that's almost as fun as being out on the water. Mark

Posts: 1061 Location: Medford, WI | Great weekend for myself...I finally broke the 45" mark after telling my dad that this year's goal was to get one over 45. Broke my dryspell last week with a 30"er and then got this baby on an immediate throwback bait this Saturday evening. Our best fish in the first two years of fishing...and my dad thought he had the biggest one this year! Measured in just under 46". Fished Butternut on Sunday morning/early afternoon before heading back to school...but couldn't get a cloud in the sky. I will definitely post a picture on here as soon as I get them developed. Maybe he'll be our first 50"er in the years to come... Awesome Tiger...man, those fish are great! -Jake

Posts: 127 Location: NW burbs of Chicago | Andrew and I had a nice time in North Webster, Ind. He caught a 34-incher on Saturday while I was sleeping in, and we saw some other fish. I had a big fish come up, apparently, but I don't have polarized glasses, so all I can see if the glare of the sun off the water. We got some good practice keeping our balance on the boat, as a lot of waterskiers/speed boaters were driving around. Oh... and we got a nice tan, too. Crash McG

Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Way to go TR!!!! Fishing was fairly slow during the day in the Eagle River and Manitowish Waters area, but was a bit better after dark. Sat. night was perfect on the water as far as conditions, and the fish were a bit active. Client boated his first musky ever, and at night to boot. He also missed two other fish. Best areas were either hard bottom areas dropping to deep water, or out a few hundred yards from sunken islands. Rubber is all the fish wanted this weekend for us.

Posts: 18 Location: Chippewa Falls, WI | Here is a pic of my son Dalton Engstrom who is 10 years old with the biggest fish of his life. A 50x19. The fish was caught during the 1st Wisconsin Muskies Inc Chapter Tournament held this past weekend. Dalton caught the girl on a Hawg Dancer from Hawg Seekers Tackle Company. After a few pics she was released to be caught another day. The reason I am holding it is because Dalton was shaking so bad he didn't want to accidently drop her. (I was shaking just as much as he was) Life time memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am going to get a relpica made so we can look at her everyday. It doesn't get any better than this!!! Location: Athens, Ohio | Mauser and I didn't have much luck fishing wild and wonderful West Virginia. Friday we hit the Middle Island Creek for the first time. We went up as far as we could in the Gambler and started fishing our way back down stream. CJ got one good hit on his jerkbait (an Undertaker!) and got the fish headed toward the boat when it came unpinned. Saturday, We fished the lower end of the Hughes River and part of the Little Kanawah. Didn't see a muskie the whole day. We did see some new water and some inviting structures, and learned two new boat ramps. The Hughes ramp had half a foot of clay mud on it, I had to use 4WD to get up and down, but we made it out safely. I got more acquainted with some of my little-used baits, so the day was educational and we had a blast in the boat. m

Posts: 686 Location: Tomahawk, Wisconsin | Had a blast out on the big pond following my brother around, lots of follows and one super tanker that liked my Mille Lacs Special Custom Mag Dawg but not enough to take a bite. We have 50 inch fish here but................. nothing compared to what it is like over there, I could go into a lengthy discussion but I'll save that for another day. That is a special lake, I wish I could go back this weekend!!!:)

Posts: 157 Location: Wausau/Phillips WI | Fished Friday evening 3 hours, Saturday morning for 4 hours, the evening for 3 hours, Sunday morning for 2 hours and only saw 1 fish. But it turned out to be my largest ever at 51" and was caught and released on my home lake. I'd seen this same fish (at least it was a big fish in the same spot) twice in July but not again until yesterday. Bright sun, not even a hint of a breeze and at 10am it hit a A&L bucktail on a small midlake hump that I had marked with my GPS. It definitely shook me up and my wife had to administer a Jim Beam and Coke to settle my nerves. After all these years (since 1960 or so) I wasn't sure a 50" would happen in Wisconsin for me so I went to Canada in late August and never even saw a 45" fish. Then back I come and this happens. Go figure. Now I think it's time to get the dog out and bird hunt. Looks from the posts here this year that 2005 will be known as the year of the 50 inchers. Buddy
