Posts: 174 Location: Ontario | Wow !! Never seen Tiger muskie that big. What size would a state record be for a Tiger ? Im gonna check out Ontario If I could ask a question regarding this species.Obviously its a hybrid between pike and muskie.I t carries the muskie name.Do you need to follow the guidelines for muskie fishing ? Or does this species have its own classification and size limits ? Edited by Tim R 4/20/2012 5:08 PM

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | That is a huge tiger, it almost looks like a mix between a tiger and a spot... it does not have the full distinction of a tiger alone or a spot alone.. it looks like a really cool mix of the two.. Gorgeous fish though!

Those hybrids grow really fast especially in the first 2 years. As far as guidelines theyre a pretty hard fish for me to figure out! I put in a lot of time in the mid summer time for them and one day ill see a bunch and then the rest of the summer I wont see a single one. From what ive gathered from others/have had success with, they dont give as much interest in the bigger baits we throw at pures. Location, I spend a lot of time in shallow water areas like I do for pures but I all too often hear about guys catching them way out over deep water suspended on accident.

Posts: 174 Location: Ontario | Thanks Mike. Do these Tigers have their own classification in terms of limits and size minimums ? Or are they grouped in with true muskie ?

Posts: 981 | They can reach sizes just above 50" but thats huge for a tiger, they grow fast but they also usually dont live as long as pures from what I understand...but fish in the upper 40s are a trophy and I hope to hook into one like that this summer. My biggest is 37" but they fight like hell and are a mystery to me

I think he's asking whether the minimum size limits to harvest true muskellunge apply to tiger muskies. That's actually a valid question best left to the COs to answer. Call your local DNR/MNR office if you're really curious. Nice fish to the OP.

Posts: 39 Location: NE Twin Cities Metro | Depends on weather for me. If windy and cloudy, I'll throw a large bucktail. If its sunny, I'll be throwing a glided or spinnerbait. If water temps are warm, I'll throw a weagle. I'm hoping for clouds.
