Hey fellas (and fellets), just wanted to send a HUGE thanks to you guys and girls that have graced my boat over the last 10 years. Guiding in SE Wisconsin has been nothing short of amazing over the years. I've had some excellent days on the water, and some absolute heartbreakers out there. Overall, I'm glad to have been able to share the boat with my clients over the past decade and hopefully I have helped those that shared the boat with me a thing or two over the years.

With my girls getting older and enjoying the outdoors, my focus is helping them grow and being able to share more time with my wife and girls. Because of this, after the 2011 season, I'm hanging up the guiding title and focusing more on being the best dad I can be and on my career. While I loved every minute of guiding, life has way more important things for me to focus on. Gotta take advantage of it while I can.

Thanks again everyone for the memories we've shared, and hopefully next season I'll be posting some pics of my little ones with some toothy critters in their hands. Good luck on the water to you all this fall!

Amen to that, Joel! Hey, we'll take advantage of the freedom by finally sharing a boat this next season, it's been a long time coming.

Maybe now that you're no longer a guide we could actually CATCH a muskie together.

And if you're bored over the weekends this winter, Sunday mornings by me, good ballin...Ok, that sounds kinda bad. Come here, we play vball.

Take care of yourself Joel. I'll make sure that the Pewaukee muskies are informed of this.

I just heard back from the muskies. Their celebration party is Sunday at 10:00 by the "pink" boathouse. Much rejoicing in muskyland.

Best of luck man.

Jerry, I guided part time and work in the employee benefits world professionally, so just lookKing to expand there. I'm lucky that my organization has a generous time off policy which helped free up my time over the years. Now it will allow me to fish more with my family and friends.

Will, nothing like pounding some balls once in a while lol! Pounded some last night as a matter of fact.

Excellent decision Joel to spend more time with your wife and girls. They don't stay small for long is right, doing the daddy thing is the way to go.

I would like to thank you for your willingness to share information, tips and techniques and sharing a boat with you. I have learned alot about the Big O. I still wish that 10" Weagle of yours hadn't been defective and that 50+ would have made it in the bag. When you udder those words "dude that was the second biggest fish I have ever seen in this lake" I was crushed. I guess that's what make fishing fun-you never know what you'll catch or in my case miss.

I look forward to the opportunity to share the boat with you in the future.

John

Sounds like a man with a plan. I would like to thank you for a post you did on how to work a Weagle. I had just bought one, tossed it for a short while and really was not feeling it. Read, your post and the next time out caught a musky, had several others hit but come unbuttoned, and also boated a couple of northern in the 30" range the same day. I don't fish SE WI, but if I ever had the urge, I had planned on calling you.

Joel,
Family 100%. Good decision on your part. Life is really too short. 20 one day and 50 the next! Seems like yesterday I watched my dads friends sing him a song about turning 40 and now he is almost 80.

Enjoy!

You are THE MAN! Can't look at that any other way than good news. Spending more time with your kids, awesome.BUT, I gotta call BS! Hanging up guiding, dont think so! From now on it's "Dads guide service". A dream job with the best clients in the world. The ones you can show your very best honey holes and techniques and who will reciprocate in time. Guide fees for clinets like that "priceless" for both sides. Though no kids for me, and nieces and nephews only, gotta admit a little envy. Teach them well.

I do hope to fish together again some time.

Thanks again guys. Karl, you are right on. Best clients ever from now on!

Sorno, I hope to get them all out your way some day soon. It's on the ta-do list.

GMG, yeah, may even have to get my own pic taken there with them.

No regrets at all here. I'm looking forward to next year.

Joel,
Good for you Joel. It's amazing how the love in our hearts can change our priorities in life. Cherish every second you can get as I'm sure you've heard the old phrase "It goes fast." My oldest daughter is 2 1/2 and will experience her first ice fishing/sledding adventure this winter. I am pumped! You've influenced many anglers over the years. Congratulations and best of wishes to you!
P.S. Thanks again for all your help this season.
