How would you fish the cold front coming in this weekend?  What type of water would you chose?  Northern Wi.

 Thanks

I would choose a river or shallower lake. Someplace where you know you are able to present a bait to a fish that can't slide out to deep water or areas you may not fish.

Either way up in the pickers or over 50+ feet of water. Won't spend a whole lot of time in between.

I'd concentrate on shallow, dark & foamy.

I'll be fishing this weekend also. I'm going to concentrate on the thickest jungle I can find and open water/deep breaks. I'll let you know how miserably I failed on Monday.

I'm going slip-bobber walleye fishing. Cold-fronts like these don't seem to affect that bite as much, especially on the lake I'll be going to.

This cold front:

81 degrees Friday as a storm moves in, followed by a high of 61 degrees Saturday and 39 degrees that night, with barometer going from 29.8 up to 30.4 in 24 hours.

it's been storming since Sunday with the heaviest thunderstorm on Wednesday and no way it hits 81 today ... on and off queasy weather all week with pockets of rain ... it's been cool overnight 4 days in a row and no big difference to give daytime highs in the 60's and 70's. that barometer is less than a point.

bug hatch will effect fishing more than weather ... and not by much. if anything a "front" is parked on top of us but it's not going to be high, dry cold skies by any stretch of the imagination.

Man, looks like a cold front to me. And to the weather forecasters. Not saying it's going to kill fishing, and not saying it's the end of some streak of stable weather. But the weather that's supposed to be this weekend is pretty much the definition of a cold front passing through.

^ i wonder if you are getting more extreme in N. Minnesota? i think we have this stalled out humid gonna rain any minute stuff likely from what's happening in the mid-section of the country. been like this since last Saturday. you might be on the outer boundary.

Could be. I was considering Appleton's forecast, not my hometown's. But it's definitely been warm and muggy up here, and it's supposed to get cold and dry. I wish I was fishing right now, I can tell you that.

A cold front just gives me another excuse as to why I didn't catch anything.

If I could, I'd be fishing through it until it finally clears up. Bound to be some windows here and there all the way through Sunday morning.

I fished with my dad and a buddy all day Saturday and most of Sunday. My dad caught a 35 incher mid-day Saturday on a small bucktail and I had a couple follows. Sunday my buddy had a high 30's low 40's follow a spinnerbait in. That was all the action we had. Talked to a few other boats who didn't have much luck to speak of as well. Fishing should improve with the warmer temps predicted.

when the water temps hit 72 (last week of June) it's time to fish muskies ... until then if you aren't fishing big smallies you're nuts at least in Northern Wisconsin.

We don't have many great bass lakes around us, plus its good practice and conditioning for when they turn on. Waiting too many months this winter not to chuck some baits out there and reel em back in!

Well I caught 6 bass...Didn't downsize enough myself. A young girl in the group caught her first muskie, 39" on a #5 muskie killer and they raised two more. They were going good early Friday before I got there on Friday, guys got a 41" & 47".

Fished the Wisconsin River, hooked into two fish over two days, only moved one other. Pretty tough fishing for us. Hopefully this evening is better
