Hi fins, welcome back to the boards. I seen a picture of it, nice fish. It's a hybrid. Caught on a private club strip pit lake. And once again, an illinois record caught by a non-musky angler.lol

Thought you guys might enjoy this photo. Pike is about 45" with a partially digested whitefish in it's stomach.

Stunning, the main dish and the appetizer.
I saw the Fava Beans and the Chianti in the background as well as the hoovering PETA Flies. [:0]

Hey guys, before you jump all over fins, he is a taxidermist. Just thought you would like to know. He used to be a regular on the boards and like some of the other people on the boards was attacked off. I have even had some spirited debates with him in the past but he has been in the fishing game along time and his experience is valuable. Welcome him back.[:)]

Sorry Fins, I didn't mean to Harsh you. Keep up the good work. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Thanks for the kind words Todd. I guess I should have known a photo like I posted would bring some negative comments. Just thought some guys would enjoy seeing what some fish will eat. Not a big deal....I've had a good taste of what the boards can be like. I thought the new record hybrid might be news to some people. I hadn't heard about it until recently. Sorry if the photo was in bad taste.
But...these fish are still being mounted and I don't think it's a bad thing. All things in moderation. Have a good one!

fins, I owe you an apology. I didn't know you were a taxidermist. A while back some guy showed off his catches and all muskies' throats had been slit. Nevertheless I didn't like the pic but I meant no offence to you with my remark. Sorry again. [:blackeye:]

RAZE1 & divani....thanks for the apology. I'm not sure it was necessary, but it was nice of you to offer. Have a good one!

Thought I might post another photo which may be of interest. Since I may have offended some with the pike photo, maybe this will show another side to taxidermy........Look under new post titled "Petros replica."
Have a good one!

Here's a picture of the new record:

Click here->Illinois Tiger

Rob McDermott of Chicago (in the middle between his brothers, Tim & Joe) caught this 29.56 lb., 48" Tiger on a Rapala Fat Rap, using 8# line, at Lake Somersett, Rockland, Illinois. Rob's whole family witnessed him catch this beauty.

Ok, this winter...I will get a new state record somewhere in Illinois on a 1/200 oz jig. Question: Should I use a waxworm or a spike on it? Waxworm may be a little overkill in illinois.

Not trying to razz anything up, but I have heard of some Hybrids in Illinois caught and released that have crushed that fish....anyone else hear anything similar?

MP-> I THINK you are right....seen some BEAUTIES out of some private lakes up near the Galena. BUT, I do believe most people don't keep too many muskies on those waters.

Here's a near 26 or 27 pound hybrid out of illinois. 45 1/2 inches, by 25 1/2/".

Beautiful fish....this is Sue Eversoll. She and her husband Johnny catch many "big" hybrids there as well.

Actually, a good friend of mine has a house in Galena on Eagle Ridge and he says most people out there, including everyone he knows, love the muskies. Instead of golfing every day, they have a chance to catch a big fish.

This fish (if recognized by the state - they have not posted it yet on either the state DNR site or in the Hall of Fame's book either)would break the old record by several pounds. Really nice fish! The fisherman mailed me the photo a while back. Tom
