The Capital City Chapter of Muskies Inc is again hosting our annual outing to Andy Myers Lodge on Eagle Lake! This trip is open to NON-Members!

Here are the details folks, get a hold of me if your interested before we fill up!:

When: September 3 – Sept 10 2011
Where: Staying at Andy Meyers Lodge on Eagle Lake, Ontario , Canada http://www.andymyerslodge.com/
How much: Herbie is cutting our group a GREAT deal! $589 per person! 100$ deposit is required ASAP to save your spot!
What’s this includes?: 6 day / 7 night accommodations, late model boats with new motors., all towels and linens, daily dock service, midweek maid service, use of boats and motors on 5 remote lakes at no charge, marked maps and seminars. Bring your own boat and enjoy free boat dockage and battery hook-up ALSO- Herbie is including 12 gallons of gas PER PERSON!!!

If you would like to include all meals or just the evening meals I have the prices for those as well. Herbies guides are also available but you should let me know right away so we can get deposit checks in and get them reserved!! They also have upgrades available on boats for a fee. Several folks went this route last year versus dragging up their own boat.

ALSO!!!!!!
We are bring this back from prior years, we will be doing a drawing on the first night (sat) to see who in the group are the lucky ones to fish with Herbie himself for an outing after dinner one night!!!

This September trip is prime time as the large females slide shallow with the cooling waters..this time of the year is when we run into some VERY large clean, open water fish in the shallows..

Not only does Herbies crew work to put folks on fish, but there will be sharing of information(with in the group) and map marking for those of you who will be new to eagle lake. This trip is about learning and sharing....just ask and all the help will be there for you!!

If you would like to talk to folks who have gone in the past I can provide some names of people you can talk to for their perspective.

If your interested PM Me or call me at 6082137747

Cory
PS....a couple pics from last years trip

I talked to Cory. He's not sure if he will be at the Cap City meeting on Monday night (1/10/2011 @ 7pm) at the Bridges on Shopko Dr on Madison's east-central side. I will have AML flyers and the details listed above for those requesting it.

Cory thanks for setting this up.

Cory,

Quick question, I'm talking to my dad and uncle to see if they would have any interest in going this year. I know one issue is that they are both in their late 60's and don't really like to fish muskies all day like I do. Does everyone strictly fish muskies on this trip? Just don't want to be the odd group out...

Herbie and his son have the walleyes wired up all year long, also offering some big deep water Pike. Other multi specie opportunities are there, too.

Eagle Lake is an outstanding multi-species fishery ... i've caught my pb pike and pb walleye both on that lake on a "musky-trip", and i've been crazy not to spend a day or the whole week fishing lakers. your dad and uncle will have a blast if they choose to go! there are some nice smallies too.

edit: ... Also, Herbie has a guest instructor on-site during that time of year and i think it's Ron Barefield during the week we'll be there. last year Ron helped me out with some things on my new Hummingbird Electronics, he's a fantastic guy, outgoing, helpful and knows his way around the multi-species world according to eagle lake ... best part is Herbie has him there for the benefit of the guests.

i'd suggest they plan to book one of the various extra trips early and then set up for using what they learn throughout the week. some of the others have been on or done some of the other things and will be willing to help or provide any assistance they might need in advance.

I've went there with my dad the last 4 years and he's 75. We fish walleyes one day and then I fish muskies the next and he recoupes in camp. works out pretty good.

That is a GREAT deal.  How would you deal with a single fisherman from Indiana (with a boat)?

Wow I was gone for a while and see all the Q's! Great to see the interest. Jon, Tyler and others commented on taking the more senior fisherman....its all true. And yes the last two years I have put down the muskie rod at least a few times to chase walleyes. Why? Because the action was good and the size of fish was a wide range so you never knew if it would be a 2 pounder or a 6..8...etc! Pretty straight forward pattern for them that time of year too...lindy rigs and big chubs on deep main lake reefs.

Cates....yes I actually have folks interested that DON'T have a boat and would love to team up with someone. We had 3 groups do this last year and it seemed to work out well. Drop me a PM and we can chat.
And I think Ron is on schedule to be in camp again with us. Ron can catch anything and a SUPER guy...and yes he will help anyone and everyone...

Kick Herbie for me, and remind him of the support he gets here. He has no idea. Enjoy, gents, and post pictures. Lots of pictures! (of fish)

Looks like they've gotten some nice fish up there so far. I know they have at least one 50+ and a few others that I've seen so far. Not sure what kind of bite they're exploiting though.
