Posts: 56 Location: Maplewood, MN | Just checking on how you all did out there today. We fished Forest Lake, tough going with just two lazy follows. We heard of a couple boats landing fish but seems like most others saw little action.

Posts: 162 Location: Metro, MN | Was out on WBL. Brought up 8 nice sized fish and could not keep the pike off my line, so a great day of fishing in my book. Fish were very very shy of the boat. 5 boats i talked to at the launch had little action with one guy who got 1 fish. Didnt here of the results yet

Totally amazing results, at least three people (boats) doubled during a significant cold front. Is it the sheer number of anglers different lakes or muskies in those lakes. A ten percent chance of catching a 53" if one catches a legal muskie! MIND BLOWING!!!!!!!

Posts: 14 | My brother got 7th in my boat with a double 41- and 40 tenth was also a double 40-40. It was 4 fish over 50 with 2 of them being 53s Also was told a 50+ didnt make it to the site on time and was not allowed to register it. 4th place was a 53 and his partner boated a 44. 5th and 6th was a 50 and 51 both caught in the same boat by 2 anglers so there was quite a few different boats on multiple fish today! Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | I fished with one of the guys on the board here. We had fun and saw some fish. We caught a lot of Pike and probably would have done very well if this had been a Pike tourney instead. So, now I have to keep my day job. ![]()

Posts: 3157 | I helped Paul out at the awards ceremony always fun heres some of the highlights You guys did waaaaaaaaaay to good of a job catching big fish it was like doing taxes trying to figure out all the placings Waconia had 8 of the top 10 places including 2- 53 inchers,,last year the metro tourney was also won from Waconia with a 53 incher. two guys came to the awards with their Thumbs wrapped up,,one guy with a ER done right bandage,,The other with a Duct Tape "Git er Done" Bandage, one of the tigers that placed was from Waconia, which is intresting-natural or one the DNR just got mixed in??? a 48 1/2 incher didnt even get you in the top 10!!!! 557 people fished the tourney. Minnetonka isnt even in this tourney and lool at all the big fish,, Edited by happy hooker 6/14/2010 4:22 PM

I would have to say for one day and the size of the body of water the 2010 Lake Waconia Muskie Rampage rivals the legendary Leeck Lake Muskie Rampage! OMG

Posts: 148 Location: Northwest Wi. | And just think, Some guys make fun of my release gloves! Awsome results for one lake and with a lot of good sticks on the other lakes also. The 6:00 am weather had "Muskie" written all over it...

Posts: 454 | Waconia did have some solid results. I am not sure the exact number, but I would venture to guess that of the field of boats at least 80-100 were on Waconia. That is a pretty significant percentage of participants. Congrats to everyone who did well, I just don't like the merry go round feel you get when you crowd a body of water that badly.

"Some solid results" you are kidding me right? That has got to be the best result in a muskie tournament on a lake that size in the history of muskie tournaments. I would love to hear an arguement that any tournament result has ever been more impressive on a single body of water.

Posts: 454 | DJS I am not sure why you are taking offense to my statement. I said they were solid results. Like I said, put 80+ boats (160 muskie anglers) on any 3,000 acre or less body of water and see what happens. There was no water left untouched on Saturday, including open water which was trolled heavily and accounted for several of the fish. If you are referring to the 50+ inchers that were caught that is impressive to see 4, but the total number of fish caught when compared to the number of anglers was not that great. Over 60 boats blanked for the day. Congrats to those who were able to double up or put a big fish in the boat, well done.

Posts: 457 Location: Minneconia | It's not like Waconia was unknown...any given day last year and you needed a helmet and elbow pads to fish it. Pretty amazing numbers out of there relative to some of the other lakes though

Posts: 697 Location: Minnetonka | Aside from yielding some impressive catches, Paul's tournaments have changed muskie fishing and his focus is on the future of the MN muskie fishery. I'm sure that any release issues will be addressed at the next tournament and I hope to see more of the Hartman tournaments (MMTT) re-emerging down the road.

Posts: 167 | In regaurds too slow rollings comment......Im not sure how too take this, yes once in a great great great while a muskie fisherman has a fish die on him.......but you have to remember your thowing somthing with sharp hooks that a fish wants too eat! Sometimes these things are going too happen. Muskie fisherman are very carefull with the fish in my opinion! I can tell you how many times i have seen where another person fishing for another species latches into one and fight it for 15 too 20 min, handles the fish incorrectly, takes 20 pictures drops it 3 times, and then launches it back into the water like a little bass. I believe that there are alot of people misslead about these fish also. Edited by dehno23 6/17/2010 10:42 PM
