I believe that "Sensi-brake" on the Record is a dual anit-rev system but I could be wrong. That is a nice feature on my Record. I bet that SS gearing is far stronger than the brass.. Curious as to how smooth it is, brass can at least 'break in' if machining is perfect... the SS probably won't break in much at all.

The inshore is built like a brick but seriously I don't see the need to change out your brass gears to stainless. Other than a couple issues with the 6.3 to 1 gears I can count the number of gears I've seen go bad on one hand and this is out of thousands of reels I've repaired.

A little TLC goes a long way with these reels. I am a college student so I do not have all sorts of money to spend on reels. Other than one model of reel which I choose not to list, I have never had to replace any gears on reels I have purchased new. If they are used and other people do not care for them properly.....then I have replaced about half. Grease and oil regularly and no matter who makes your reels, they will be smoother and last longer.

Bobbler, Are you sure it was the actual gears that broke on your reel? More often it's something else and people think it's the gears.

As for the thumb bars on these reels there just isn't enough of a market for this reel with a thumb bar. This reel is marketed towards the salt water market nad they prefer a push button over a thumb bar.

The pawl would be a pretty big plus over the Record. I went through two AR bearings this year on my new Record. I like the reel, but don't care for the downtime ordering parts.

PIKEMASTER, probably a dumb question, but does the standard ABU power handle fit the 6500 Inshore? Also, could the gear ratio be changed to 5:3.1? Thanks.

The pawl he is speaking about is the anti reverse pawl which is a mechanical piece incase the AR bearing goes out.

The predator is basically the same reel made for the European market, I believe it's a brownish/bronze color.

I'm not sure about changing gears as it uses a different spool than the C3/C4 reels so the pinion is a little different,
