I am interested in this for a number of reasons, not the least of which is to show what a tough target anything over 52" really is.

Please list the state or province, not necessary to list the water.

I have a 54.5 out of Wisconsin, and four 53 or better from Canada.[:0]

I sure hope to stick one bigger than that before fall though.

Come on guys, I am serious here...trying to make a point as to where we ought to have our collective sights set.

I have chased muskies for more than 30 years, in very good places to fish; I had an advantage---time, and location.[]

My wife is 5 foot 3 inches does that count.[]

To get a flat stick measured fish over 53" is quite the feat.

I am fortunate enough to have caught two, one in Canada 53 1/2 one in WI. 53 1/2,but otherwise most 50 or over (but not to 53) have been in MN.

Can I add a couple of fish together?

I have 5, all from LOTWs, biggest at 55 1/2. It took 35 years, and many days per year to do it. They are very, very, very rare!

I might add that I've had 3 more caught by friends and clients in the boat.

Man I do not have my logs handy but I believe it to be more then my share. Just of my head I think I average a bit more then one per year. [:p] Someone has to have all the luck right. [;)] I still remember that summer night of August '99 when I caught twin 54s one right after the other just like it was yesterday.[]

Oh Ya all came from Canadian waters.

Not even close.....BUD!!!!!!! (Breakfast club qoute)

But, I know my buddy is very busy and won't answer so I will for him. Craig Eversoll got not one but 2 53 inchers from Canadian waters......on consecutive days last year.....he is still walking funny from the horseshoe inserion.

Seen them....but haven't hooked them.....yet.

Congrats to all those who have.....may we all join that list some day...with catch and release it maybe possible.

Three for me, all from Michigan. That is roughly one in every 150 fish, not real good odds.

I personally have four in over 40 years of fishing. Two 52's (plus one I put a friend on)that were over 44 pounds (I know, not over 53-just re-read the title of this thread-but were "special" fish) one 54 (plus a 54 I put a friend on) and one 56. All from Canada.

I've never even had a follow from a fish that big. That's a very rare club to be in.

Steve back in 1997 I cought a 53 1/2 x 26 1/2 0n a 10 inch believer in 12 ft of water,two days later I cought a
57 x 27 on a custom t-50 flatfish. Both were true eastern canadan fatties. the trip was full moon in oct. They were estimated at 46 and 52lbs. Got some great video and lots of pictures before releasing these true trophys. Only problem is the replicas were not true to the size.

Well Chuck as you well know- The "Authorites " Have informed You and I and the rest of the Wisconsin Guides that we never catch anything over 42" in a given year.Im still hot over that little message. Keep tossing buddy- Im feeling especially MOTIVATED this year. Now if I can just find one of those "special" Canadien rulers they use to measure those Snakes over at you know where.Id put those 48" and 49" refrigerators the Wisconsin guides catch very year up against those long canadien "hammer Handles" any day. Have a great year. HC Meyer Seven Islands Guide Service Presque Isle Wi.

I hate to admit this but none for me yet.........been close to them, have seen them, have hooked them a quick released them. Have even netted a 54 5/8" on Cass for my partner, who by the way has 3 fish bigger than that from canada.
With the amount that I am fishing Deer and Bone I don't see many fish that large. I am going to Cass with Greg M. & Cady this fall and hope to rectify this situation. And yes, I will let her go.

Dont worry Muskyone,

I have been snake bit too. There was 7 years I registered muskies with Muskies Inc. Out of the over 300 caught in that time frame, none were bigger then 48.5.

I have caught well over 400 personaly in my life and still cant break that 50" or a 53" for that matter. Sometimes its the water you fish. I fish mostly numbers lakes. I do make a trip or two to Canada every year. I have had three 50"+ fish on and you know the rest of the story after that.

I am going to the doctor next week to have a horseshoe implanted. I have some big trips planned this year and I need all the help I can get.[;)] []

I thought 3 days fishing with lucky Mr. Worrall in Canada would do the trick...but I am still snake bit.[;)]

To those that the muskie god has blessed you with a big 50"+ muskie....Congrats!!!!!![]

I got close a 52 1/4 inch out of Lake of Woods, a 50 incher out of Lake of Woods and a 50 1/2 38lber in 1988 out of High Falls that is on the wall. I would have to say a 53 incher is a rare bird even in Canada after fishing Lake of Woods for the past 12 years I may of have only one on that may of been that size or alittle bigger and may have seen two others that size in 27 years of going after these buggers. That is about 36 so far, for twelve anglers. The 12 include some of the most rabid muskie persuers on the globe.( My fish span over 30 years and many, many miles on the boat, truck, and rods) I would guess there is over 240 years of angling represented by the responses so far;
that makes it an average of one every 6.66667 years of angling by VERY serious anglers on the best water in the world.

Begs the question if a 53" fish should draw yawns as they have of late. Seems that a fish has to be 55, or 56, or more. The fact is, most active muskie anglers will never break 50, and the lucky ones that do will RARELY break 53.

So a 48" fish now AGAIN looks like the trophy mark most should try for first, yes? [] [:(]
