Location: Kaukauna, Wisconsin | I was wondering what you do for in boat lure storage. Such as putting tubes in baitwells/livewells or something else. If someone has pictures they would be cool to see. Anything would be greatly appreciated. |

| I am re-doing my boat lure storage that I did last year. I am improving it to hold more lures and I am also reinforcing it better. I will send pics here soon. It is a work in progress so it will be good to see. Tom |

| I built frames and put them in both the rod lockers in my 618T. I emptied out all my tackle into them and have plenty of room to spare. I think i have room for almost 200 lures. The frames are made 1X1 boards with sheets of plywood in so that the lures dont get tangled too badly. I made a frame to fit the top and the bottom of the locker and boxed in the frame with plywood and then put pieces of plywood in crossways every 2 1/2 inches. They are heavy and were a lot of work but they work great and keep my lures very organized. |

| O.K., I took some pics. I am no master carpenter so this is what I did. I have an Alumacraft Navigator 165 Tiller. I built a box and carpeted it so that it would be the same height as my front casting deck and then I cut PVC gutters to fit and glued them together in groups of 10. I can get about 2 lures in each and the whole thing is still pretty light. I also made a couple extra sections of ten for my extra lures so, if I want, I can swap out whole sections. I also made a smaller section with a seperate lid for a cooler storage area. I hope this helps. Later, tom

It is sold, but i still have it in storage. It is in De Pere, but I will take you up there as long as we can swap musky stories, and a beer.

Location: Forest Lake, Mn. | I have an Alumacraft Tournament Pro 185 and what I did was to ask Dan at Dunwright Tackle to sell me some of his lure tubes that he uses to make his butt seat pedestal tube storage rack but not to have them glued together. When I got them I glued them together myself in the following pattern. The x's represent the tubes and the space between the xx and the x aren't glued together.

The single colmun of 4 is shorter so the latch for the compartment lid will turn. Also by not glueing the colmuns between the xx and the x I can then pull the tubes out of the compartment and take everything out while leaving the lures still hanging in the tubes.That way if I have to take the boat in for service or leave it somewhere I'm not sure about gear theft, I can just pull the colmuns of tubes out of the boat. I don't have a digital camera so I can't take a picture to post. The only measureing I had to do was the height of the tube, they were a little to tall and had to be cut down about an inch if memory serves. Very easy assembily, clamp to tube together and add a bead of liquid glue between them. Forget what the glue was, but it's a clear liquid that looks like water. Dan at Dunwright Tackle can give you the deatails. A lot faster and easier than all the cutting, measureing, and assembily of the other methods. The glue sets up in seconds. So assembly should take about an hour or so.
I can get about 4 regular sized Phantom lures in a tube or about 5 of the six inch Phantoms, to give you an idea of the number of baits that you can put into this setup. Of course larger and smaller baits and baits with lips, or wings, or other attachments take up more tube space.

Location: Athens, Ohio | I use the same downspouts as Muskie53's in the former live well of my BassTracker. I took the time to drill and rivet them together and added a string on each side so I can puull the unit if needed. I much prefer to hang wet baits than put them in a plastic box, especially in the heat of summer. m |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | Good ideas guys. I'm rigging a new boat right now and am building custom deck extensions of which one will be lockable tackle storage. Been debating between the downspout tubes or the dunwrights, I've also thougth about buying a Flambeau box and removing the inserts and cutting the length of them down to fit my dimensions.
Question for Musky53. Where did you get that piano hinge for your deck lid with the bends in it?
I just had a regular hinge welded to a peice of alum. angle because I could find one like that, nor could I find one wide enough to put it in a brake and bend it like the one you used.
BTW... Alumacrafts Navigators are once nice looking rig. I really like the interior layout, very similar to my old Ranger 690 and current 618.

Bass & Vilas Cty.Muskie | I just pull out my inserts of one of my muskie boxes(flambo?) and take a cross section out and put them in my back cooler of my Ranger R82(bassboat of course). I think I had about 80 baits in there last year. I think I can get 2 baits a slot and up to 3/4 bucktails depending on size.Not as pretty as the others(nice job) but functional and cheap. |

Location: Gurnee, Illinois | I originally had some dividers made up for a custom box I had in my old boat. I called Dave Hasselberg at Clear Vision Systems with the dimensions of the box, and he custom made some dividers out of lexan, and they turned out awesome. I tried the Clear Vision Website so I could provide a link, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. I think I have Dave's address if anyone is interested, but I am not positive he is still making these. Anyway, I sold my old boat and bought a crestliner fish hawk. I cut the dividers so I could put some in one of my Plano tackle boxes and some in the center storage compartment of my fish hawk. Works real nice, and you can see the lures due to the clear lexan. A few dollars more than the downspouts, but worth it in my opinion. See pictures below.
