| Regardless of water temp , season etc., what is your favorite technique?If you had a choice on how to catch these crazy fish, what would it be?I was always a sloppy spinnerbait guy, but after this spring, I rediscovered my love of topwater.I'll still wade through the "jungles", but if I have a choice in the matter, give me a topwater. Gliders. Nothing imitates food better than a glider. Fast or slow. Spring through fall.
Gliders catch fish.

| I think Beaver has a good point, but my fav is bucktails. Especially in heavy timber, blasting cast after cast and weaving the bait through the wood. |

Location: DES MOINES, IOWA | The last couple of years for us has really been top water years, and you can,t beat that type of fishing for excitement.If I have channels in the weeds to get Topraiders through with out fowling up, I am throwing them.Exciting stuff. |

But my #2 would be live bait, sometimes thats all that works and seeing a the bobber go under or the clicker slowly click is exciting |

| Gliders are definitely my favorite but I'm noticing the fish around here (Webster et al) are honing in on the glider thing and are wising up...just like they did to the dogs. I'm now finding that very erratic, non rhythmic retrieves and stops/jerks/slower pace seems to be getting their attention...more important than any one type of bait really.....yes believe it or not guys it's all in the angler and the fish--not so much the freakin bait (right place/right time/right technique)! But those new dunwright dancers, polish shads, and J-mack combos look so gooood....... |

| Kly has shown me the power of the glider this year. I was always a slow/ methodical retrieve, but now I know "speed kills", even in relatively cold water.Triggered fish that would follow slow approach.I must agrree, they are a very versatile bait.Keep 'em coming. Steve |

Never got a muskie on a jerk / twitch bait nor on a spinner bait, none on a topwater. These are my goals for this year, but the hookup is so much better with bucktails, it's hard to put them down. m |

I love twitching small baits like 6" Slammers, GrandMa's, Jakes, Cranes and Shallow Raiders. |

Location: Southern W.Va. | Jerkbaits, jerkbaits, and more jerkbaits. Most likely Ol' Mikie, a beat up Red Perch ( I didn't know the color and have been calling it a Black Cherry) 9" Sledge. This bait has caught about 75% of the muskys I've caught in the last year. Got a lot of faith in this bait and it's been very , very good to me.

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I am a big fan of straight line retrieves, namely bucktails and topwater. I have found them to lead to the highest hook up percentage, and the most fish in my boat. Some baits may be more fun to work, but nothing beats setting the hooks and taking pictures.  |

| I use bucktails and spinners to search. If a muskie follows and doesn't strike, I return later and throw the same bait with a plastic worm attached. When that doesn't produce, the trusty topwater with varied retrieves usually puts fish in the boat - from 6 inches of water to sixty feet deep. |
