Posts: 470 | I enjoyed it a great deal, lots of things to see and do, great folks to chat with. I didn't get any of the lures I wanted (off to the internet I go..) but I managed to pick up new muskie rods (Thanks James!), Order a replica for my son's first fish, play with a Toro S/Beast and generally pester Canadian Lodge owners. Great way to spend a Saturday. I'll definately be there for 2017's expo. RandalB

If there are some weddings going on the rest of the venue Saturday night could be fun. Huge parking area too. Food, there is a culvers across the street. Down the road a 1/4 mile is a portillos, sushi, tgi Fridays, tai food and a host of other stuff. Doentown st Charles has a nice bar scene 5 minutes away. It is about 25 minutes straight south of the sears center down 59 to north avenue. There is a hotel there and across the street. No need for out of town people to even drive. Posts: 576 Location: Elk Grove Village, IL & Phillips, WI | Great show! Pheasant Run will be even better. It is a real convention center, no more dark halls! Although a longer drive to an off the main drag type place, it will be worth it.

Posts: 53 | Seemed to be less vendors and less people than last year. Couple booths had some really tough locations and were blocked from most traffic patterns. Lake X sold out of fat bastards in 3 hours on Friday, but Thorne still had a few on Saturday. Lake X guys pointed me that way and I was able to grab one. Vendors seemed willing to deal so that was nice. Good time and a nice way to use up a Saturday. Weather that afternoon cut my time a little short so I wasn't able to check out any seminars.

Posts: 264 | I went on Saturday and thought the show was great. Got three Lake X Northern Lights Dr. Evils. As noted the Fat Bastards all gone on Friday. (By the way, you can Pre-Order the Northern Lights from Rollie & Helen's online. They do not have any in stock yet.) I agree Pheasant Run will be a much more vendor and visitor friendly location. As Todd noted the All Canada Show has been a regular there for a number of years. And, cheaper beer... well hooray for that! Talmooner

2017 Expo by St. Charles, IL? Would/Should the Swap location change as well? What are early opinions on that?

Posts: 572 | First time going to the show. I was impressed with most of the seminars and workshops I attended. I regret missing a couple of interest. I regret not taking some notes. Lots of things to try to remember.

Posts: 20241 Location: oswego, il | As far as the swap goes, probably should change, pheasant run is about 35 minutes from officials time out. Pheasant run itself has quite a few banquet rooms, as stated earlier a popular place to have a wedding reception. I would be willing to bet the major chain motel across the street has a banquet room or two as well.

Posts: 7068 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Let's hold off on deciding publicly what we (as in me) are going to do with the swap. It will depend on many factors, one being cost. Though Poplar Bowl is 35 minutes away, if I have to charge people to enter because of having to pay for a room, that's probably not going to work, and we might end up back at the place that gives us the room for free. Being that AGAIN a number of guys could not handle the cost of beer at the venue and had to bring their own, I fear that charging will drive away people who cannot otherwise afford to attend because of a $3 or $5 cover charge.

Posts: 20241 Location: oswego, il | Yeah because we can't justify paying a 3-5 dollar entry fee when we can use that three to five dollars to buy a musky lure.that cost 25 new. The ones who think 3-5 is too much are the ones who need to be told what spots to fish.

Posts: 238 | I did not think it was near as crowded this year as last year, I was there at same time both years.. Some booths were in dark areas so it was hard to see color patterns on some lures.. thought it was a ok show, the seminars were very hard to figure out who was speaking where, I asked 3 different people working at the show all three gave me different answers.. I missed one and came late to the other.. They did not do a good job anouncing them either few others I talked to said same thing. Hope it's better at the new venue next year.. Still had fun on a snowy weekend. Spent too much money but that will happen
