I Just Went To The Chicago Musky
Show Today And Paid The $ 8.00 Bucks
To Get In. Only to find out the Prices on
Lures & Accessories is higher at the show
Then the catalogs and Internet Sites,
From stores that were there. _hit the Bait shops around here (SouthSide) Are Cheaper.
I personally think they raised their prices For the show.
This is Ridiculous We all go to the Shows To save Money And Talk to Old friends And Check out the new Lures for this season. I talk to a lot of other people there that said the same thing we all go to the shows for the deals and they very far and few!
I Think This is my last show.
Sorry to be Venting
Nick

One Musky Expo that will have good prices this year, will be the Pittsburgh Muskie Fishing Expo,March 7th,8th,& 9th.There will be to many Tackle Co's and Stores, some their first time at a Show, for there not to be a lot of competion driving prices down. You also get 12 Seminar Speakers from around a wide range of the Musky World.Pre purchase your Passes soon, avoid the line opening day, don't get left outside standing due to sell out to fire code capacity.Besides this Expo is being put on by Three Rivers Chapter of Muskies Inc.,every dollar brought in will go back to the Pa Musky Fisheries.

Nick and anom,

I think your missing the point of the musky shows.

The $8.00 to get in also includes multiple seminars through out the day from the best in the business. What is that worth?

Talking with those "Pros" after there talk one on one. What is that worth?

Meeting tackle pro staffers in there company's booth's and having them answer any questions about there product and how and where to use it (can't get that from a catalog order now can you) How much is that worth?

Seeing this winters new and hottest lures that just hit the market. How much is that worth?

Yes, the lure cost might be a bite higher than a catalog price but there is a reason for that to. First and for most, a tackle maker selling at a show SHOULD NOT UNDERCUT HIS DEALER!

Second, if you take in the cost of the booth with electricity, food and lodging, time off to do the show and paying your "staff" members (thank's Steve for working for so cheap)
and now add in the cost of the lure, you need to sell a ton of product to make some $$ in one weekend.

Apparently the shipping charges on your catalog orders doesn't bother you. I'd rather see the bait manufacturers get the few extra bucks than the post office.

There are usually several points of view just as there is to most things.

Myself I enjoyed the heck out of the show yesterday and I spent about $100 or so...Didn't bother me a bit. In fact the part I liked most was seeing friends I hadn't seen since last show season or since mid summer. Bill being one of them... I got to check out a few new products, see a few new boats and overall just have a good time.

By the way there were some hot deals there...In fact "Treats" darn near tripped over himself getting in line for about a 75% discount on 80lb Tuff Plus... Two 150yd spools for $10...sounds like a show special to me.

Now the speediness of the service in the consession area that could stand a little improving....[]

See all ya'all in Milwaukee in few weeks..

I'd rather go to the shows and pay the extra for "Show Only Colors". Like someone else mentioned, buying stuff from catalogs always involves some S&H charges that mean extra cash for each lure purchased.
You have to go in to a show figuring all of that in. If you are simply looking for 'cheap' lures, you won't find them at the shows.

I wish I could of found that line in prevous post. I did get some cool new color mag. bulldawgs that I can't wait to try and they alittle cheaper than usual, also Bass Pro Booth had Super-Raiders alittle cheaper too. Great seeing guys from Muskie First. Jason remember to bring some large size t-shirts to the next show. Thanks, Al[:0]

I love the opportunity to drop some X-Mas cash at the door just to see all my day dream tackle. Bill S. hit it with his post. I've only bought a few lures at the shows in many years of attending. Meeting and talking with all the pros, venders, and Peeps that share the same passion, is worth every penny and then some at the door. I can't get that stupid song out of my head! "KUM BY YA". Who was the saprano?[:sun:] [:(] []

I don't think you looked hard enough for deals. Posted prices were not set in stone. I didn't pay the posted price on anything. I saved quite a sum at the show. 2 calcutta 400's for $175 each, no tax. A savings of $60 plus. 1 St Croix Avid for $185, no tax. A savings of $40. You need to chat with the sellers.

Except for a sale bin on older stuff and a few show specials, I have seen everything retail. I don't go for the prices anyway, there is so much more to gain by going to the show.
