Its starting to slow down, fishing for muskies and walleyes was great until the east wind started tuesday nite. This week there was only a few fish caught that I know of. Monday I got out early and scored a 37 incher and later a 33 inch, was out wednesday, thurs and friday nite and came up with nata for my efforts. Trolling was working for the last three weeks but has slowed down. There is a lot of people trolling and everyone is asking why the fish are not hitting. With the new moon upon us and the weather stable I don't know why there not hitting like they were. I have tried after dark the last two nites and came up with nata, zip, ziltch but my partner did snag a twenty pound carp in the tail for the best sounding rip this year. For more info on Pewaukee Lake see my weekly fishing report on my web site MIKEKOEPP.COM See you on the water !!

Got out last nite at 8:00pm with my wife and started trolling the open water, talked to a bunch of the boys out there and no action yet. Most of them were running the breaks 16 to 22 foot, so I tried running a little deeper. The first fish I caught was a bonus 25.5 inch walleye that I released to be caught again, the second fish was a 36.5 inch muskie that came at moonset. The muskie was in 25 foot of water, about 17 foot down and hit a Golden Shiner Deep Diver Slammer crank bait. With so many trollers out there all doing the same thing try to do something a little different from the rest, also don't quit after the sun goes down. Night fishing is starting to pick up. I checked at Smokeys Bait Shop and for the week there was only two fish regestered other than mine. Im shure there was more caught than that but it is a good indicator of the action on the lake. Fishing was great until the tuesday night cool front and now will hopefull take off again. See you on the water and good luck !!![:praise:]

Trolled today from 530 untill noon. Marked plenty of musky but no takers. Did not mark much shallower than 25 feet of water and marked lots of fish suspened off the secondary break at 29-34ft. As a matter of fact 10-25ft seemed void of fish. That's a nasty algae bloom you have there guys.

I got out this morning at 5:00am and off by 8:15 for a dentist appt. The fish are starting to go. Here is a pic of a nice 39.5 that came 6:00am. The next fish came at 7:15am. There was a bonus northern also. First fish came on the break and the 45 came from 30 ft of water.

Fishing has been outstanding. Was out Wednesday and caught a 38 inch muskie and a bonus 37 inch pike. Thursday was good also with the biggest muskie going 45.5 and the second one 36.25. There was also a bonus pike at 37.5 inches. Friday the pike got bigger(38 incher) and the muskies got smaller(34.50 incher). The baits of choice were Slammer deep Divers, Depth Raiders and bagleys. I will post more info on my web site on monday evening after im done guideing. I am going to Oconomowoc Lake tonight for some night fishing to get away from the crowds. There is sail boat races today, tomarrow and this weekend on Pewaukee Lake. I had a big A scow sail boat cut across my board line and flat lines today. I had to go back and pick up my equipment then left the lake. Cut all three lines and lost one lure. V-3 was the number on the sail, watch out for him. His name is Colman H Norris from Pewaukee.[:blackeye:]

For those who want to know the water temps are in the mid 70's and going down. Caught fish the last two times out, Saturday 5:30 to 7:30am a 34.75 short line trolling the weed lines around Rocky point area. Thursday night from 7:30 to 10:30pm. Thursday was my first three fish night ever and two came after dark(36,40 1/2, and a 36 3/4 incher in that order). All of these fish came from deeper water(16 to 23ft). Its time to get out, the full moon phase is on its way and the water temps are dropping. Baits of choice were Slammer Deep Divers, Bagleys and Depth Raiders in dark colors. Some casters are also starting to see and catch some fish, mostly around deep water weed lines. See you on the water!!![;)]

Any updates anyone!

I saw the other day someone asked about fall fishing on Pewaukee and wanted some questioned asked, I was tied up and could not get to the question. If that person wants to ask it again I will be happy to answer it. I see his post is gone, was it something we did not say![;)]

Ok I found it!

Pewaukee is a holiday lake, Memorial day and Labor day and the entire month after are some of the hottest times out there.

I would pitch 7" firetiger slammers, golden shinner will also work. Twitch them down the weed edges, very tight!. Bucktails, chart and orange on Black work great, also dont forget old nickel on blk. Run them LOW! down the weed edges and the will come!

Pewaukee is a boatside lake in the fall, make sure you do a WIDE and SMOOTH figure eight boatside on almost every cast.

Fish are starting to move back to the weed lines. Water temps are 74 as of last night(17th). I was out trolling and caught one small low thirtys fish and lost one due to a hook straightening out on me. Felt like a nice fish but thats only a story now. The people that were casting for the last week have reported some quality fish that were moving. A 50 inch class fish and some mid fourtys. I know of a 44 and a 46 that were caught last week by casting. It won't be long and the weed lines should be full of muskies again, so far its still 50/50-trolling/casting.

Fishing has started to get real good. I got out Saturday morning and we boated two and raised two others. The fish we raised were in the 40 inch class and one fish we caught was low thirtys and one mid thirtys. Monday night I got out after work and raised a fish on a 7 inch Slammer but turned off without a hit, but the sucker I was dragging did it job. A nice 37 inch muskie took the meat, I layed the iron to her, battled her and released her to fight again. I raised two more fish and caught a 36 inch muskie on a Believer before sunset. Water tempatures are in the low 60's and falling.[;)] [:p] [:praise:] []

Jason I know how you feel, I guided today and there should have been a passing lane on most weed lines. We did scrape up a 36 1/2 incher on a sucker around 11:00am. Yesterday I had a full day outing and boated a 34 inch muskie but it took almost 6 hours, we lost one early on a sucker and one that ate a 7 inch Slammer at boat side. My client said to me "my bait just disapeared into his mouth, it was huge" but no fish for the camera. Little slow on the hook set I think. Fishing on Pewaukee Lake has not been easy lately but it has its good days too. Thursday was good for one fish for me but there was three of us tossing for three hours and no follows. This 43inch fish ate a Suick tossing it down a weed edge. Sundays cold front will not help things but this should get the fish into the correct mode for days to come, bring on the fall feeding frenzy!!![:p]

I have been bow hunting, has anyone been out on Pewaukee Lake recently? Don't know if I will be getting out with hunting using up the rest of the season. Maybe I will get in a few walleye nights before she freezes over. Who has been out? [:blackeye:]

mike, I was out everyday since sunday and it has been slow. Water temps are around 44-46. Sunday I had a 40 incher follow my sucker to the boat when I was going to move spots. I let the sucker sit next to the boat and twitched it and it destroyed the sucker but no hook up with the musky. Monday I didn't see a thing. Tuesday same result. Yesterday I decided to try out in deeper water near the white condos on the north shore near the island and had about a mid thirty up to the boat twice. I was trying to find schools of bait out deep and cast around them with bulldogs and depthraiders. Hope this helps. Ill be there agin tomorrow and give another report then.

Go get a slob, I wish I could get out but heading back up north with my daughter this weekend and next Friday the same. I have to take advantage of this year because the farmer sold the farm. After 17 years I will be hunting somewhere else. Its time to kill some more deer, last weekend I shot a nice 8 pointer with the bow and this weekend it will be her chance to get out. Thanks for the update. E-mail me.[;)]
