| Hey,
Looking for some ideas about crankbaits that run very, very shallow. Looking for a bait which
runs maybe 6 inches to 2 ft deep only. I realize that even deep diving baits can be run shallow
if you reel slow, keep the rod tip high, and back off when you get too deep, but I'm looking for
something you can buzz along pretty good but will stay up high. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

| I've had great success with the SS shad or a jointed believer on a shallow setting fishing as you suggested. |

Location: oswego, il | The hoosier hand made musky crankbait is a good choice, so is a lip ripper from smokeys muskie shop. A 6" mann's -1 will do the trick too.

They run really shallow had vibrate more than any other small crankbait on the market. These things really wobble and simply catch fish.

Location: Chicago, Beverly | Hoosier Handmade 6" and 7" shad cranks. The 6" seems to go a bit shallower then the 7", The thicker the line diameter the shallower it will run, I use either 100lbs Stealth or 36lbs Musky Master... Plus these got a ton of vibration along with the Rattle... |

I have been keeping this lure under my hat too long. Here is a link to one on ebay. The 140cm model is 1 oz and 5 1/2 inches. It stays in the top 6 inches to 1 ft of the surface. Awesome lure! Tons of tricks you can do with it. Twitch it, jerk it, crank it, pause. I use the smaller 120cm model for bass and pike. I have taken a lot of pike and bass on it. The smaller one will go a little deeper (Maybe 1.5 to 2 ft). I twitch it a few times then a few cranks then a jerk..etc. The "Triple Impact" name is for Noise, Vibration, and Water Displacement. Check it out. I hope I am not driving the price up on these things for myself and I have no affiliation with this ebay seller. Just a link to show you the lure. I don't know where else to get them. | Best I've used is the SS Shad.Great construction(thru wire) and components(triple rings and 4/0 Eagle Claw 774's).The bait runs shallow, even with some speed. Steve |

Location: Holly, MI | Pikemaster..don't be silly. 140mm. I'll bet you knew what I ment. I hope nobody pays heed to this great new bait. The 140 is only about 3/4 of an inch longer than the 120mm but it is 3 times the overall size and holds a lot more air thus the shallower retrieve. |

| I am curious as to what makes the ss shad troll better than say a tuff shad, hooker shad and such....to cost way more than the others...I catch many fish on shad baits and want to hear what makes it better than the rest before I shell out the extra 8 bucks or so....Ben |

| Storm makes a shallow thunder in 6" with a perch shaped body.Tight wiggle but good for burning over weeds. |

Location: Shoreview, MN | The last two years the Mann's 1- has been a very productive bait for me. You can work it very fast, it's won't go more than about 6"-12" deep, it twitches well and clears weeds with a rip pretty well. They are also cheap - but you need to replace the hooks because the factory hooks suck. About the only down-side is that it's a bit on the small side - I've been looking for something bigger. Tried Believers but you can't work them anywhere near as fast or irradically as the 1-.

You can get them to run deeper by twitching them fast, but you're looking at between 2-3' normally. Awsome bait for running over weeds...when I get to an opening/pocket, I twitch or jerk it in.
Big Games and Crane 205-206's are awsome as well. I got a Pink 6" Big Game from Guide's Choice in Mid June...that thing needed replacing after 1 weekend. The Crane 205 and the 6" Big game run a bit deeper than the Slammer, but raising the rod tip will help keep it up.

I would be happy to send you pictures if you like of the 6" Rattin Shad crankbait I make. It will do exactly what you are wanting plus it has a very loud internal rattle. I see that two of my customers chimed in and trust them in that because they get to fish much more than me and have caught numerous fish with it.

| I'd have to say the Crane in the 205 & 206 models. Twitched from surface down to 2 or 3 feet. You can really make these dance with the right rod & leader combo. |

| AC Plug: sexy wiggle, clack, rubber tail...all in a shallow dive package. And that's when you're not using it as a surface bait! What more can a fisherdude or dudette ask for? |
