I just want to say the customer service with James and tackle industries is the true definition of "excellent customer service" and worth noting. these guys are amazing to deal with on top of the quality products / affordable prices they put out there. I highly recommend TI and hope that if you are in the market for a rod - you are in good hands with these guys. In the world of some really poor companies out there today I am encouraged there are still companies that are true customer advocates. Have fun at the shows

Location: Land of the Musky | You bet. I (Tackle Industries) will be at the Chicago show next week. Milwuakee in Feb. Wausau in March and then Minneapolis in April. Make sure you check out the new 96, 10 and 106 telescopic rods too. On a good note, we have managed to keep ALL TI musky rods priced under the $200 mark again for 2016 too!!! Plus lifetime warranty on all TI rods too!! |

| I have all the different sizes James carries. I think you would probably be happiest with the xh. The great thing is at the price point you can have more than one or two without breaking the bank. |

Location: Land of the Musky | For any BIG rubber or BIG trolling lures you might want to try the new XXXH. It will be on special at the shows this year. LOL I made way too many of them  That one comes in all black with full or split grip and full camo with split grip. |

| I have only great things to say about TI products and service. I definitely recommend the TI rods, as others have said the customer service is top notch! I currently have 7 TI blanks to build for fellow musky fisherman... 6 of the 10'6" and a 9'. That I'll make 10 of the 10'6" blanks when I'm done with this batch!!

Not unless the 9' XXXH sells well. That is kind of a specialty rod. not a lot of guys throw 1lb+ swimbaits... I know I can't do it for long

| I won't buy a rod from anyone else. I can't get over the customer service and flawless performance I've had from TI.
Crazy weird in this day and age to have the owner of a company call back within minutes of leaving a voicemail with a question. But that gets my $$.

Location: Land of the Musky | Thanks guys. I don't care how big my company gets. I will always try to answer my own customers personally. Of course someday it may be unfeasible but for now it would be one of the last jobs I would hire someone for... I get too many good ideas from my customers too... Almost every tweak we have done to our lures over the last 10 years were customer comments and ideas. Most you cannot see because they are inside the guts of the lure but they were all ingenious ideas to say the least!!!
LOL side story but Aaron with Musky Tackle Online and myself like to see who can get orders out to the same customer faster.... So far I think we are tied in the race.....

| Part of the reason why I think the xxxh doesint sell too well would be because there are too few 2 pounder size baites on the market for one to justify buying a stick with such power. Today the only lure that size is the massive trout swimbait from savage gear. Have you ever considered producing a 2 Lb superD? (A shallow version of that would also be very interesting) |

The true purpose of the rod is to be a dedicated pounder rod but it can throw up to a 3lb lure with ease. LOL now just find a reel that can throw a 3lb lure

He's asking if he can use the 9'XXXH blank to replace the top section of one of your 10'6" telescoping rods while reusing the handle section.

I doubt it. The critical part as you said is 'as long as it seats well'. The tolerances on telescoping rods are very tight. It's highly unlikely that you could take two completely different rods and get them to fit together in a telescoping format. Just because the XXXH would get tight at the end of the handle section doesn't mean you've achieved success. I'm guessing the tapers would not be a close match which would lead to wear issues. I think it would be worth pursuing if you had the spare parts to play with, but I wouldn't expect great things.

| Jeremy nailed it. That's what I was wondering... It would be kind of fun to mess around with the parts to see if it would work. I wonder how different the tapers really are on the handle section of the xxh 106 and the xxxh... Hmmm....
How much of the telescoping part of the rod needs to "seat" for it to be effective should be very similar to the amount used to extend a blank permanently. So really a few inches that mesh or seat when extended should yield decent results... Sounds like a fun winter project for James! Hahaha!! |
