Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | I seen this on H2O Tackle's Facebook page:
"The demand for the HardHead has become more than we can handle without major expansion. After much thought, we have decided to sell the HardHead. We are pleased to announce that as of July 1, 2013 the HardHead will be manufactured and sold by Phantom Lures. We wish them well in this endeavor. To our customers, thank you for your business. We will continue with our full line of other quality baits and have plans for other great baits in the future. We will take individual orders in June. Dealers can contact Phantom lures."

Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | Kane - The two largest sizes are not prototype looking and are made in the same place Phantoms are. The small which would have a prototype look I suppose that I hand poured is almost finished getting injection molded. The medium which I hand poured is discontinued. I would like to hear your thoughts, please PM me.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Roger, I enjoyed buying the Hardheads from you the last few years. They certainly are a highly productive bait. Good choice going with Phantom. I think they will take care of the bait. Now that you sold them you can start working on a flat sided (Jake style) crankbait. Let me know when you get those done. I'll be willing to test some prototypes. ![]() Tucker

Posts: 994 Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | Hey there's a statement as to a quality bait. Hats off to Roger in acknowledging he was at the point of letting customers down without major change that was not possible. Not only did he not decide to capitalize by raising the price out of sight and limiting production, he honored his customers by finding another quality manufacturer to take over the bait. Quality all the way Roger!! Now get to work on the NEW baits I can't wait. Jake

I would like to hear your thoughts, please PM me. it's about the way the grub look,it would be nicer with a special made grub that would match the shape of the glidebait. but at the end i don't think the fish will see a big difference The grub tail on them is a factory Kalins tail. They look fine to me, and I like that they are available most anywhere and for pretty cheap. The Buckethead uses a custom tail specially designed for it. The 1st ones were a little rough in the prototype stage but new molds have been made and they look factory made. I think the baits look great and more importantly the fish seem to agree. Tucker

Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | Kane, yes you are right it would be prettier if it was especially made to fit (BucketHead tail is my design and made by me) but that would mean people would have to buy the tails from me (makes me more $ I guess). Which is one of the reasons it is made that way and makes it more easily replaced. The whole bait was designed to work together with the ability to put on other tails if the user so chooses. If you look at the BucketHead tail all those ribs and curves were made to work with the front and be used by itself.

Posts: 76 | Thanks for what you have done for me and the musky industry Roger. Now, who out there would like to join me in getting Roger on retainer so we are the only ones who get to use his new baits? The cat has been out of the bag on the hardheads for a little while now but Phantom will definatly shine with this product. Keep it up!

Ditto! Curly you'll have to fight me for a prototpe of a Jake style crank! ![]() As far as the tail (buckethead size since the others are Kalin or Action Plastics) being ugly. It's been a work in progress and Roger has it it ironed out. I think we should all consider ourselves blessed that we got to use the ugly proto tails up until now otherwise we would have been able to use such a great bait. I'll take proto over nothing at all. ![]() Congrats on the sale Roger, and I look forward to what comes next. ![]()

He was trying to be helpfull.. Heres a tip..! Since you've only been registered for 3 days!!! Maybe you don't understand how this works.. You clearly don't understand how to spell or form a sentence. If you only want one person to answer something.. Try sending a message/PM to that person..... Instead of posting on a open to the public message board.. On here for 3 days and you're already being a d-bag to people.. WELCOME You'll fit right in

Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | Kane - Thanks for your comments it allowed me to address (in my other post) the lack of fit of the tail and the reasons for it. You are right it would be prettier. Maybe in the future I will address the pretty side, might be a nice challenge.

Looks nice if you want it to look more like a dawg. The Kalin's grubs have such great action though, I will stick with those. I'm sure the fish don't care either way.

I'm sure those tails would also catch fish, but I'd guess the bait might have less wobble and roll? I think the big, wide Kalins tail acts as a rudder and is the reason the bait has the nice belly roll it has, which I think is a key trigger to this bait.

Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | I don't think it looks more sexy at all. Quite the contrary I like the curly tail on it with the ribbed body. I think I saw once "Ribbed for her pleasure", but that may be a different product. Tucker yes I wrestled, and brushed the dust off this past year coaching my kids so you WOULD be in trouble. Let that be a warning. ![]() Guest - 7/2/2013 9:44 PM this pics resume what i was talking, look way more sexy no? https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/526409_533968...

Posts: 941 Location: Freedom, WI | You actually point out the good part of the HardHead, the ability to put on any tail you want. If you want to make one go ahead and use it, if you can buy one go ahead and use it. With the weighting system you can adjust for different tails if the balance changes somewhat. As on my earlier post the curves, bumps and grooves are on the Buckethead tail (and Kalin)for a reason.
