Posts: 9 | I usually fish out of the front. The only time I don't is if we've been working really hard to get someone on their first fish, if they have casting/figure 8ing down, then I may relenquish the front for a while.

Posts: 256 | Normally the front but this year it doesn't seem to matter. There have been more fish caught by the middle or back of the boat than the front so far. Edited by kustomboy 6/25/2010 2:55 PM

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | I fish alone 99.9% of the time, but I have my boat set up with the electronics, bait boxes etc geared to the front of the boat, so that's where I fish. And as we all know, second bait through doesn't mean you won't catch fish. But yeah, if a guy needed to get his first fish or whatever, I'd give up the bow for the right reasons.

Posts: 16 | If your partner can run a trolling motor - take turns. I've done as well out of the back as the front and enjoy the break.

Posts: 109 Location: Spencer, Wisconsin | I fish out of the front of my boat 99% of the time, but when in an all day tourney and if i'm too tired, then ill give my partner a rest and let him run the controls and go on point. Edited by TET62 6/26/2010 8:50 PM

Posts: 477 Location: Iowa | Usually out of the front, but it depends on who is with me. Chad can take it over whenever he wants. Pretty much anyone else stays in the back.

Posts: 646 Location: In a shack in the woods | My old boat I always took the back. This year with my new boat I'm always in the front. I almost always run the trolling motor and would rather have to look down at the front finder than be in back and turn my head all the time.

Posts: 97 Location: Chaska MN. | I had my neighbor up on a lake in northern Mn. with me that I fish all the time and he would make me take the bow in HIS boat because I know the weed lines and rocks reefs be than he did and after a couple of days I asked him to take the front and he got mad at me ??? I thought I was doing him a favor at least in the weedy bays as he would have first shot at any thing coming up, then after a long weekend and netting three fish for me and not a thing on the end of his line he wonders what the ???? he is doing wrong

Posts: 158 | So far this year I've only fished out of my boat so I've been up front running the trolling motor and everyone I've fished with seems to enjoy not having to do anything but fish. This past weekend in one hour the front had 2 hook ups and the back had 2 as well - I don't think the spot in the boat really matters. Last year one night a 46 and a 48 came from the back of the boat, both of us were throwing the same bait into the same weedbeds and that convinced me that it really does not matter - those fish are going to do what they're gonna do.

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Friends and guests always get the front. I always fish out of the back of my Esox Magnum. It has gotten so that the few times that I do I fish by myself I still fish out of the back.

Front of the boat. (My front mounted trolling motor can only be contolled from the front casting deck.) I feel it's my responsibility to man the trolling motor and let my guest just enjoy the fishing without having to steer the boat. Beyond that, I don't subsicribe to the idea that whoever fishes from the front gets the 'first shot' at all of the fish. Even between the the two of you casting, only a percentage of the water ever gets a lure in it with the boat being in motion anyway. So whether the lure came from the front or the back of the boat is still a matter of the odds of in being in the water at the right place at the right time.

Posts: 69 Location: janesville | i usually run the boat. even when im fishing with my dad although im always fishing out his boats. it would be nice to fish with somebody that could run the boat well keep both guys on fish no matter what were fishing for but all my fishing buddies dont ever run the boat. it would be a nice break sometime to let someone else run the boat but no one ever wants and we probably wouldnt catch many fish.

Posts: 157 | 99% of the time I'm up front running the trolling motor. Lately however I've been letting my partner of 6+ years get his feet wet running the trolling motor. He's fished the bodies of water enough with me to know how most of the structure looks and where he can find the "spot on the spot". Hopefully he'll like being in the front and finally drop some dough on a boat for himself the cheap SOB!

It has gotten so that the few times that I do I fish by myself I still fish out of the back. Same here. The control and electronic are in the back of my ESOX Mag. Sometimes, I run my buddy's boat - if I do, I run it from the back. Edited by muskie! nut 7/17/2010 6:59 AM
