mskyhntr,

I LOVE my uninsulated guidewear bibs! I chose the uninsulated so I could use them all year round. Just get them big enough so that you can properly layer underneath and you will be fine! I used my Guidewear at Presque Isle and they did very well. I am about the same height and the regular length did just fine. If you have any other questions I would be glad to help!

I second the unisulated....your crazy to go otherwise. You get SO MUCH more use out of them from early, late spring even summer. I even use mine for very cold icefishing days.....just layer underneath. I am 5 10 and I am pretty sure I got the regs....

Cory

Oh, I LOVE THEM by the way...best money I have spent.

I have the insulated ones and I use them for weather in 50 degree's and under... I think for warmer weather you are better suited to get a cheap pair of rain pants and go that route...the insulated ones rock...they are very warm...I can get away with a pair of fleece pants underneath them and be warm in 40 degree temps...
awesome bibs for sure....

I have the insulated, they are great to keep wind off too. I use them spring and fall into winter. Better off with a light rain suit for other times. I got my bibs big and if I need to bulk up I can. I got tall and they are a tad long and i am 6'0 so go regular

Remember mskyhntr, if you go with the uninsulated you can use them ALL year round, versuses only in the colder months! I have used cheaper rainsuits, nothing compares to the guidewear! Just my opinion.

Guidewear is the best, go XL for the bibs and no insulation so you can use them year round.

I have the insulated pair. There are by far the best that I've owned. If you are doing a lot of fall, early season, and ice fishing this would be the way to go. I use Guide Series for summer, but on trips to bigger water still bring the insulated pair along.
I'm 6 foot and have the XL regular.

I am a non-insulated fan, you can wear them for a longer period of time. When it gets cold layer underneath. They will be too hot except for the cold weather. Just my 2c.

Poly pro, fleece, and the uninsulated, and I was hot in both Presque Isle and last Saturday on Okauchee. Of course, I have my layers of walrus blubber that increases the insulation.

By the way, Mike, when I bought mine six weeks ago, I went to the new Cabelas here in WI. Probably two hours from you in IL. They had a bunch of them in the bargain cave. I saved like $55 on a returned pair.

Uninsulated cant be beat for the most use. . I am 6'2" 260lbs so I bought the tall, and I got mine a liitle big, so I could layer up underneath them if need be.

I like the unisulated for the year round reasons. If you call Cabela's customer service number they can give you all the measurements on the size you want, waist, inseam all of it. Have the catalog number ready when you call, they are very helpful.
I hope this helps.

P.S. Has anyone used the Clam Ice Armour? I've been looking at it for a year round outfit.

I have the insulated pair, large size, reg length, I am 5'11" 180 lbs. They fit great with a pair of fleece, sweats, or whatever underneath. I have worn them from mid 20's to 50+ degrees and not been hot or cold. Sounds like you would be happy with both from the posts, just decide if you want to layer or just throw on the bibs.

I have a 100mph suit uninsulated that I tried for years to make work year round. Its great down to about 40-45 degrees but below that you loose the mobility you need to cast with all those layers on. There were days I felt like the Michelin man with all that clothing on. I recently bit the bullet and bought a second set, insulated guidewear. I wish I had done it years ago. At 30 degrees I only need a pair of good long undewear and fleece pants and I'm good to go. In a world where $2000 fish finders and $350 custom rods are in many peoples arsenal, I think its not unreasonable to have two sets of rain gear if you are going to push the limits of the season. As for length, I like mine long so that the rain doesn't run down your boots when you are sitting down and your pants creep up.

I never thought of it that way, I've got a lot of money in the boat, electronics and tackle and all. The one thing that could save my life,[ insulated suit] really is not the place to try and save money.

i lucked out. i got a gander mtn guide series suit for christmas 2 years ago. i love it for all conditions...with proper underinsulation, it can work in the cold

i did however just buy some cold weather gear....one of the purchases was the tech h20 insulated bibs from gander...i couldn't pass it up at sale price for 50 bux. i wore them once with just jeans and they're super warm. i love them too now!!!

I'm gonna get an insulated set of guidewear myself. I'm 5'9" 185 and thinking Large, Reg for the bibs. Trying to decide between the jacket and the parka though and whether I should go large or medium. Leaning toward the parka. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I started off with the parka and I liked it, but it was longer than I wanted it to be. The parka is nice because its longer than a jacket but having the jacket gives me MUCH better freedom of movement. I do a lot of walleye fishing early in the year so trolling and jigging requires a lot of movement usually. I like that the jacket doesn't go below my butt. I really don't have any kind of negatives about the jacket, I really like the jacket much better than the parka but either way you go you will be happy.

Oh and Bob, Cabelas has an excellent return policy. If you get a size too big or you don't like the jacket or parka pending whatever one you get, all you have to do is save that reciept and they will exchange it. I had my parka for almost 3 months before deciding I wanted to try the jacket and they had no qualms about me exchanging.

Oh, if you remember now, you will now have to invest in some kind of rainwear for the summer if you go with the insulated! That's more money that has to be spent, just my opinion.

Get the parka! I have the parka and it is very very warm...the great thing about the insulated bibs is, unless it is say under 40 degrees I can wear the bibs, and a few layers on top with a light windbreaker jacket on top and be warm...the parka is great for 40 degree's and under

I am 5'11", and 190 and I have the regular large bibs, with XL parka...if you are 5'9" i'd lean towards the Large..if it's too big cabelas will exchange no hassles

I'm 6' and have the xl regular length non insulated bibs and parka. They work great unless it's really hot. When I bought them 2 years ago I also ordered bass pro shops set and picked up a gander pair so I could check them all out side by side. It took all of 5 minutes to see which ones I would keep. The fit, finish, adjustments, and well thought out design of the guidewear is in a different league. Never second guessed that decision. The little stuff really makes a difference. I can't stand a hood hanging in my face, the guidewear has 3 adjustments just for the hood. The One in the back to pull it back to pull in up out of your face is great! I really like all the pockets too, except when you forgot where you put something. Anyways, I think the regular length non insulated is the way to go, either way you won't be disappointed.
