Location: Downers Grove, IL | If you're fishing off the bow (or in the back) by yourself, you'll really appreciate it, especially in waves. But it doesn't work well with another person fishing off bow with you, just gets in the way. So I'll take mine with if I'm solo ort here's only two of us fishing, but 3 (or the occasional 4), I'll leave it on the dock.

| IMO, if you on your butt seat on the bow your too far from the edge of the boat , it’s there to hold the pedestal pal with all my release tools in my boat, in fact my seat won’t even come up from the lowest position it hasn’t been used as a seat in 12 years ( how long I’ve owned this particular boat)

Location: E. Tenn | I do use i as a seat or to be precise, something to lean on.. It makes life easier on my hips, and knees.. plus it's nice to know exactly where your release tools are..

| I use mine about half the time I am on the water. Takes pressure off the back. As someone else said, in big waves it is really handy. On Eagle Lake three weeks ago, I had booked the guide before reading the weather forecast. Fished all day in high winds, casting in the morning with the trolling motor blowing out of the water would have been a lot more tiring without that to lean against. Kind of gives you three points of contact when it is rocking and rolling. I don't sit on it, more of a leaning post. |

| Sure would have agreed with IAjustin 4-5 years ago but with age and some physical issues butt seats are necessary.However one needs not give up pretty good '8' success using one,just need to sit/lean closer to the edge.One can do that by adding pedestal holes closer to the edge or utilize a different seat type.

With that seat and 10 ft rods a high percentage are still in trouble if they come in. |

Location: Western U.P. | Do you need one... no. Does it make fishing for long periods of time a little more comfortable, in my opinion, yes. Is it more stable in windy conditions... definitely yes. A tripod is more stable than a bipod. Try one. If you like it. Keep it. If you don't. Sell it. |

| Mine lives in the storage compartment mostly because I'm not used to having it "in the way" on the front deck. The times when I've used it, it IS awfully nice to have something to lean on. |

The figure 8 can be an issue, but have made it a habit when using the butt seat to stand up as the lure approaches the boat and begin the 8. I have one rod that 9'6" and not sure I would need to do that with that rod. Since I am leaning, not sitting, really an easy transition but one I need to remind myself of. |

| I am 73 and when I am out all day it is invaluable. I dont fish from it necessarily but can lean and take some pressure off my feet when necessary. I still figure 8 from my gunnel so it doesnt detract from my techniques. Highly recommend ... you can always store it on days when you dont expect to be out for a long time. |

Location: Central Illinois | I use a Springfield control post. Different seat than other butt seats. Lean back against it to take bit pressure off the knees n feet. Also nice for rough conditions. Helps stabilize yourself when the bow is bouncing.

Location: Northern Illinois | Ya, I got one, it's nice. It's an original Lund post and seat. Now I know why they call it a butt seat. I had to pay out the a## for it. The Dealer was the only place I could find the locking 2 3/8, adjustable post. I tried the one from Amazon, but it didn't lock and it fit loose. |
