Posts: 618 Location: Michigan | Went out a day or two before the weekend as I didn't want to deal with all the boaters and jet skiers. Brought along a buddy of mine who had been musky fishing only once before so I was trying to get him his first fish. Had little action for most of the day with high skies and pretty clear water, but had a good window of activity around sunset in which we put a couple in the net on MagSuperDs. I got a 45" and 36" and my friend got his first at 38". Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 1296 Location: WI | I got a 35" on the figure 8. Also lost a big pike boatside on friday. That one stung a little. Heard that someone else got a 42" pike in the same spot the next day. Makes you wonder.

Posts: 280 Location: McFarland | Had a good week in Madison. On Wednesday we had our first matchfishing outing, my partner got a 34" in the morning and I got a 47" in the evening and yesterday for the fourth of July I got a 43" in the morning and then my son and I went out to "watch fireworks" on the lake and I got a 40" on the figure 8 which he netted like he's been doing his whole life. ![]() Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 540 Location: MN | Saturday morrning I got a late start because of the wind that wouldent quit. Finialy made it out at 8:30am and by 8:50am I had a thick 51" pig laying in the bottom of the Beckman! I was alone so I flagged down a guy to snap a pic for me well this big girl didn't want her picture taken and when I pulled her from the net she went nuts slipping out of my hands and back into the lake leaving me with olny a rash on my hand and a memorie.

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | I was up north last week from mon night till mon morning... Had post frontal, N winds, clear skies and water temps had dropped by 3 degrees to start the trip...But got a 38 and a 42 and seen like 4 others. Weather got progressively more fishy as the week went on...but funny the fishing actually got worse for us. We were getting basically a hit a night, and 7-9:30 seemed to be the window. Weds night I got a 46...Thurs BN lost a 45 at the net..fri nothing(couple follows). Sat BN got a 34 mid day and then a 38 after dark. Sunday was PEFECT conditions....S winds...warm rain...barometer dropping...we fished two different lakes for a total of 4.5 hours without a sniff...the second lake had a lot of muskie fisherman on it, and when we left about 4 ish they were all gone....so action was NOT good. Anyone else experience this in Onieda/Vilas this past weekend??

Tim Shmitz, if it was in the bottom of the bag and you went to take it out and it got away how do you know it was 51" long? Edited by Anonymous 7/6/2010 5:25 PM

Posts: 255 | Anonymous, It it very simple. He took out his measuring tape or stick and measured it while in the net. I do it that way every time. Now you know.

Posts: 2089 | I think the muskie police actually allow an angler to measure a big fish and then put it back in the net. Congrats Tim on a great fish. 20 minutes to a 50........very nice.

Went out tonight by myself and boated my first legal, in my boat that is. I don't have the best of luck when I'm by myself and still get pretty nervous. I always think I'm going to catch a fish and kill it. It's funny how instincts take over. Anyway, she was a 39, Moved her on a weagle and threw back a double 10 and she ate it boat side on the 8. No pictures but a good release. I felt like my kids at Christmas when it was over.
