Subject: My first Muskie.... thanks!

Finally caught my first Muskie on July 6th on LOTW on one of my annual trips there. After reading the forums and all the advice here on Muskie First, I started last year actively fishing for them, but since we chase other species too, and are only on Muskie water about 1 1/2 weeks a year its sometimes a long wait between chances to get to chasing them. Still... it seems like a long wait since that first cast. Ive had LOTS of follows, several blowups, etc but it finally happened. On cast number 23,691 (seems like it anyways...but not sure)... the big girl hit. I had seen the fish the day before... it followed and hit my Top Rader but missed so I went back almost 24 hours to the minute to try again... and sure enough she was there and ready. This time I threw a Lac Suel Turbo (I think thats what its called), She came chargin from behind and the turned to hit the lure from the side and BAM... it was on. After a 45 second fight I got her in the net and after cutting hooks, measurement and a quick photo, she was released. What a knee shacker... I thought I was prepared till after it was all over and she swam away... thats when I started shaking....wow what a adventure. It was a great fish for a first I think... it was 42 1/8" long and extremely thick and girthy... I was and AM very happy and cant wait till Sept to get here so I can make the 900 mile drive back up and go for the next one. You can say I am "HOOKED" on Muskie fishing and plan to dedicate more trips and time to Muskie fishing.

Congrats Mr. Momuskieguy!!! It's O.K. to grin from ear to ear with your first or 168th muskie. Beautiful fish that you actually had a dead set game plan for unlike most of our CPR's. Muskies on top are the best. When you stop shaking after catching/seeing these fish, it's time to take up golf! 900 mile one way trip!!!! Where are you from??

I live in Missouri... and YES there are Muskies in a few waters here in my home state, but I havent made the trip to chase them..... "Yet"!

To be honest I was a diehard Walleye guy and fished for them pretty much every time out... didnt matter if I was here in MO, MN, or a lake in Canada... but things have changed now.

Yo Dude,

I'm a Webster boy ('79), St. Louis is in my blood. Twenty North is where I learned to love live music. Calicos, Soulard, etc. Most of my inner circle friends are there in St. Louis. Anything I can do to help you, well, just ask. Anything. [email protected]

Way to go sir, the first Muskie is akin to your first girlfriend and your first kiss. Now you will spend the rest of your like trying to get more, and better.

Muskies.

Congrads, nice fish,
AHHH yes, the fist one, wether its your fist kiss or first muskie, you only want to get more involved & get better at it... Keep going up to LOTW, you will be in love shortly once you catch some of those big girls up there
