Has anyone been out on these lakes lately, and are they any good this early in the season? I was just wondering in case the parking lot at the ramp at webster is full. thanks

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Tippy has been slow again. Not many fish have been caught there. Barbee fish have been active. During our Ice Out Challenge that the Webster Lake Musky Club hosted there were 23 fish caught by 73 anglers. I know of at least 5 fish that were caught on the Barbee Chain. Will Schultz even tripled up out there. I tripled up on Webster and got second place. Good luck this weekend...I am off to the Muskies Inc. Spring Board Meeting.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Lakes are starting to heat up for sure! So far this year, I have an avg. fish of 40 inches, and only two under 36 inches. Fish will be on the move as we speak. Looks like mother nature kicked in just in time! 14 straight days of guiding starting tomorrow....thanks Mother Nature!

Mike, does that size range reflect the average of the fish in the water or have your techniques been targeting the bigger fish? either way it's good, the first speaks to a solid fishery, the second to you guiding people to nice fish.

Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I generally target bigger fish. I would guess the avg. size of fish in there is about 38 inches. With as much pressure out there, I try and leave those little guys alone, they get beat up enough. No reason to target these smaller fish, as they get enough education as it is. Thanks for the kind words Lambeau!

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Average size of fish for the year for me is between 36-37. For this area and for as many fish that have been put in my boat...that is a great average. Had clients out today for half day and landed another 38.5". According to the Indiana DNR reports from last year the average size fish is just under 36".
