Posts: 469 Location: Downers Grove, IL | Hey Dudes.... After a long week at the woods and one hell of a sound system in Jonesi's Ranger, I was wondering: How many of you listen to music while muskie fishing? I find that it keeps me motivated through the dull hours of the day and keeps me casting when Im beat like a dog. Whats your opinion? thedude

I love having music on while fishing. Some people enjoy it, and some don't. The muskies don't care ![]()

Posts: 723 | My usual fishing buddy thinks that music scares fish away, I have caught a lot of fish with tunes playing, not too loud though. The one time I got him to turn the radio on in his boat, we were trolling, we had not seen anything up till he said enough and turned the radio off and we were going to stop and cast and then wham, my rod went off, haven't heard a radio since in his boat. I definitely does help pass the time during those lulls, and keeps you pumped when your favorite song is on. swingin your stick to the beat makes for a nice treat.

Posts: 2378 | The only noise in my boat is generally conversation or me swearing at those STUPID FISH... I will sometimes turn on the radio when trolling or cruising spot to spot

Posts: 32934 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | No radio in my boat these days. I used to have a stereo in the rig, but now would rather have the peace out on the water, I guess. I assure you, music doesn't bother the fish. A good friend of mine used to glass speakers into his hull and play LOUD rock all the time, thought it might trigger strikes. No idea if it ever did, but we caught fish.

Location: Athens, Ohio | Rock on, dude. I sure felt funny last year, reeling in a muskie to the tunes of your 8 Mile soundtrack - I thought I was in my kid's room! I've got a portable cd player and battery speakers that will play well in the boat, everything from Hendrix to the Dead (no Widespread Panic, sorry!). Some music seems to have just the right beat for jerkbaiting. I need a good Weagle soundtrack, now, maybe something slow like the Tennessee Waltz? m

Posts: 469 Location: Downers Grove, IL | We had a mixed bag up at the woods. Steve was able to hook 5 fish in the 8 with music playing and then other times the fish seemed to turn off early. I guess it just depends on the time and place. I dont feel that music really plays a big part in spooking the fish, unless you've got it pounding like all the Escalades i see these days. thedude

Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | I'm with Worrall on this one... The muskies don't care, so go for it if you want to. There are times I like the peace and quiet, more and more these days it seems. But being an old traveling rocker there are pleanty of times that I love listening to music of various variety, blues based rock n roll is my favorite, if it's southern all the better. Rock on...

Posts: 1086 | There are times when there's no music playing in my boat....there are times I do enjoy the peace and the quiet and opt not to play any tunes. But....most times....I need to have the music going. I've never had a problem with playing music in the boat and trying to catch fish. The fish don't care or notice..whichever...we still get follows, we still get hook-ups and fish in the net. While trolling...music's always gotta be on..otherwise..the drone of the motor will put me out. ![]() Edited by MACK 9/7/2005 7:34 PM

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | There are times I like to jam, and times I like quiet. Jam time: 5-6% Quiet time 94-95% That said, i like to jam when trolling or on long days/weekends alone. Doesn't seem to bother production. Things on the radio: Packer game Black Label Society Fugazi Waylon Jennings Alice Cooper Some of wifes Christian rock Cd's Reverend Horton Heat

Posts: 63 | I don't really like music in the boat, good conversation when fishing with others, or the sound of being out there in general keep me going. Don't get me wrong I like all kinds of music, but out on the water, I don't need it to relax. ![]()
