Location: MN | Looking for a rod that's 8'6" for tossing double 8's like ( showgirls)and smaller. Would love to hear what folks are using. Will pair it with a 300ej for myself and to have a rod for the wife. |

| MH works great, but I can toss showgirls very well with an XH TI as well. Smaller cranks may need a MH, or H, depending on the rod. |

Location: North St. Paul, MN | I'd second the TI 9'. I have the XXH telescoping and it's great for anything...literally anything. Yesterday I was bomb casting a little rabid squirrel, took that off and put on a pacemaker. In Canada I caught my first cowgirl fish on that rod (3 of em, actually). Last week walking around Calhoun that was the only rod I brought and I threw showgirls, rabid squirrels, rabid squirrel spinnerbaits, 6" slammer twitchbaits (that cast surprisingly well), and even a phantom.
If you fish from shore, where bomb cast are advantageous, the 9' XH or XXH would be the way to go. Fish from a high boat, again, the 9' footer.
The one place I shy away from using it is my little backwaters boat. It's tough for me to figure 8 and maneuver boat side with the long rod so low to the water.

| I have always used a 7'6" MH rod for throwing the smaller (double 8 and under) bucktails and spinnerbaits and such.
I have the Okuma XH 8'6" that's typically a dedicated double 10 rod. Finally tried throwing double 8's with it after I lost a levelwind on my bucktail setup. I was surprised how well it casts the lighter stuff, even smaller single bladed bucktails.
If it's for your wife, I'd actually think about something shorter. Samantha started out with all 8' and 8'6" rods, and wound up downsizing to 7', which is now her favorite rod. |

| ToothTamer 8'6" med/heavy is GREAT fror 8's and smaller baits like 6" or 7 " twitchers. Priced right as well. |

| I used a Quantum EXO 200SPT on an Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 7'9" H rod, for at least 75% of my trip this year throwing 8s. |

Location: MN | 10 ft TI XH for small bucktails and XXH for big bucktails and rubber. I know it doesn't meet your specs but it's something to consider. They launch baits like no other and the figure 8's are a breeze. Once you go to a long rod you'll never toss a short rod again, for most baits anyway. |
